Mephisto Genetics First Auto Grow - Mephisto Double Grape in soil with GBD SS mix

Day 5. Watered them today only a couple ounces around the perimeter of the stalk. Water mix contained .6ml of MammothP, and 1.7grams of Recharge+ in one gallon of distilled water ph'ed to 6.5. All looks well so far.

Added 3rd autocob 3500k to cabinet as well. Having trouble keeping temperature above 70dgf since I added my new ventilation system. Using a variac to run it as slow as it will run, temps still not hitting 70dgf, so I added a third autocob. Keeping two of them (autocobs) over the Double Grape at 30", and keeping the lights on 24/0 until spring comes to my part of the world. Good news is that excess humidity is a thing of the past as readings are 40rh right now.

Day 10 - Watered them today, 1 gallon of filtered water, 1.7 grams of Recharge+, and .6ml of MammothP ph'ed to 6.4. She got about 8-9 ounces around the perimeter, she got 5-6 ounces around the perimeter on Thursday. She is definitely growing, more in the last several days. I guess her roots might be close to getting down to that GBD SS mix in the bottom half of the pot. Moved the autocobs ( 2 of them) to 32" above the pot. Looking good so far...

Day 15 - She was watered yesterday, her regualr feeding of filtered water, 1.7 grams of Recharge+, and .6ml of MammothP ph'ed to 6.4. She received about 20 ounces. There was some runoff, so I may add a day (3 days) between watering to let her dry out some. Growth went from 4" to 6+ inches and a new set of leave (node). She may be finding her legs in that big pot (5gallon airpot). Soon her roots will find there way down to the lower half of the pot where the amended soil is, and I expect some dramatic growth at that time. Snapping pictures every fifth day, so I can judge the growth more easily.

So, a bit of an update as 5 days have passed. First off, adjusted my schedule so yesterday was Day 20 instead of Day 21.

I went 6 days between watering as there was a small amount of runoff after the last watering, and the daily weight of the autopot felt like it did not need any water. I did water yesterday, the end of the mix I had been using for the previous waterings. She received about 20 ounces of filtered water, 1.7 grams of Recharge+, and .6ml of MammothP ph'ed to 6.7. When I went to empty the catch tray, there was a single longish root that had wormed it's way out the bottom of the autopot and it was very white. I made sure not to damage as I readjusted things. There was another couple of inches of growth from the last entry, going from 6" to 8+ inches. She is starting to form and throw out her fourth node. I don't see a reason for any training right now as there is room between nodes for everything to get some light. Now to the pictures...

Yesterday, Sunday the 11th of March, was Day 25 for my Double Grape. It was 5 days between waterings. I think the time between waterings will continue to drop as she approaches pre-flowering/flowering. She received about 30 ounces of filtered water, 2.5 grams of Recharge+, and .6ml of MammothP. I forgot to ph the water/feed before I watered the DG. She is now ~11" tall and I have begun some LST and leaf tucking to allow the inner branches to compete for the autocob. Second autocob was turned off at Day 21 as I believe she might have been getting too much light. Also, the tips of the 4th node showed some nute burn. I am wondering if I didn't mix the GBD SS into the bottom half of the pot well enough and she might have gotten a pocket of the addendum. Anyway, onto the pictures...

I'm on my second grow with Mephisto SS using Pro Mix Ultimate which is an OMRI certified organic compost mix. On my first grow I mixed it exactly according to the directions but it turned the Pro Mix too hot with water only and cal/mag. I'm using cob's. First sign was claw leaves then brown tips galore. The plants were stunted in growth but did bud fairly nicely., They triched really good but with almost no stickiness. These were Stilton Specials. The end product was mediocre. Don't get me wrong-I think the SS is a very good product but it is potent. Apparently there's a learning curve to it On my current grow I mixed it at half strength and the plants -Cosmic Queens- are 23 days old today and doing excellent. Once again water only with cal/mag. Fingers crossed. I would be pretty careful about adding any additional nutes until you get it figured out. Good luck. Pipes

Thanks for the info @Loud Pipes. Keeping an eye on them multiple times a day (cause I can). Other then some burned tips on the emerging 4th node, no other signs just yet. So maybe this won't be an on-going issue. I am trying to judge the vertical growth against others through their grow logs, and while it appears to be behind a bit, I am thinking that could also be a number of other factors ( pot size, phenol, too much light from two autocobs too close,...). Definitely first-time grower errors or paranoia.
