Whats up everyone!

This is my first ever grow. After scouring various forums and doing some research I decided I'd go ahead and try and grow some HBD from Short Stuff (attitude seedbank). My dad's got MS so hopefully I can grow some quality bud for him. I plan to grow the plant on my windowsill until it is big enough to move outside into a nice stealthy, southerly-exposed spot in my garden. (Im in the south of England). I'll be updating with some better quality pics asap!

At the moment the only nutes I have are Bio Bloom. May have to get some more when the time comes unless you guys think thats enough?

So far...

The seed was germinated using the wet paper towel method and after 48 hours it had a huge white root! It had even started to grow into the towel slightly. I planted it in a (roughly) 3gal pot of BioBizz light mix, watered it a tiny bit and placed half a plastic bottle over the top and left it in a sunny spot on my windowsill. 24 hours later it had popped up.

Quick question - I heard that it is best to leave the bottle over the seedling for up to a week to keep the humidity up. Is this right? At the moment ive taken it off just so it has a chance to catch a slight breeze and strengthen up. Also, with watering...im waiting to get some ph strips so I can be sure the water im giving it is right. How often would you guys recommend watering seedlings? Ive heard less is more a lot of the time.

I hope to update this regularly, as well as ask some sometimes obvious questions. lol. Ive found most of my info from this forum so thanks to everyone here!

Looking like the start to nice plant the more sun the merrier mate. Only feed eighth to a quarter strength nutes . But do not feed until well established patience is a virtue in growing. I wait until at least two good sets of leaves have shown before any nutrients they get all the need at this stage from the sun and water and the growing medium I am not familiar with biobuzz growing medium but it looks like peat moss perlite vermiculite which is a great growing medium. IMO right now less is more and putting a bottle over helps with humidity but she is well established and ready to grow out

Hey man! I'm not experienced by any means but I believe I can offer some helpful tips based on my own grow so far.

Firstly, LightMix is a great medium! I'm 6 weeks in and have had no real problems with either pH or nutrients on behalf of the soil. Those pH strips should be adequate since you don't really have to get concerned with the pH as long as the water you give her is of about the correct value. Mine has actually been 7-7.5 all this time and it's all good.

It is pretty important to provide a humidity hood of some kind, so keep that bottle on for a while! I didn't and my girls didn't outright suffer from the dry conditions, but I'd still recommend maintaining high humidity.
You also don't need to trouble with the stem strengthening stuff yet. I blew a fan on them from the very first day and they didn't like it. They'll grow naturally strong outdoors.

I've also experienced the windowsill isn't a very good place for cannabis plants. Even if they get adequate amounts of light they will stretch toward the window. You can and should move her outside before 2 weeks is up.

I over watered my soil before planting and the girls were struggling to get air. You seem to be good as far as watering goes. Just be patient and don't water them again until the surface of the soil is dry and crumbling. The big container takes a long while to reach that point. A week or more.

Hey guys sorry about the delay. I'm now 9 days since she popped from the soil and I think she's looking good! Given her two light waters when she was drooping a bit and it seems to be working.

Thanks for the heads up Wienerwoods, im using the bottom of a lemonade bottle with some pin holes in it now. Sounds like the windowsill isn't the best place, I had heard about stretching before. At the moment i'm moving her between a tiny space in my attic with a cfl (thats nice and close) and slowly introducing her outside. Fingers crossed!

P.s I dont know why my pictures are uploading upside down sorry guys

peace :peace:

Wassup guys, got a bit of a problem I think.

IMG_0762.jpg

The plant was looking fine this morning but as the days gone on her leaves are curling up, one of them has a black tip and there are yellow-y looking spots appearing. Also she seems to have a waxy texture that wasnt there before.

Im buying a soil pH tester tonight to see if I can figure out the problem but I wondered what you guys thought? Shes been outside the last couple days with a bottle top covering her as the weathers been decent. Was planning to water her tonight or tomorrow but may hold off now until I know the problem is

Thanks in advance guys

Waxy doesn't sound good. It might be bacteria or fungus, but check the pH first.
Some indoor experts should give better advice.

Good luck!

sorry to hear your having some problems, cant tell what is wrong sorry but if the leafes touch the bottle they will be affected somewhat, that may be the black tip thing that is going on. Try the live help thread

thanks Showbiz. from that I would say heat stress...and to be fair I moved her outside to start aclimatising today and the sun was beating down on her for a good few hours. Will still check the pH when my order arrives.
