Welcome welcome. Glad to see you getting started. As already stated an HPS with a cooltube setup would be ideal. Or an LED light, but those are more expensive than the HPS initially, but IMO, the long run pays off, way less heat for you and your plants which is less exhaust and power all around. With that being said, I understand that you can't or don't want to just go out and buy an LED since you're all setup.

So my advice is to pull your exhaust duct that's at the top of your down down and right beside the lights. So it can immediately pull warm air up and out. But I bet since you opened that bigger flap in the back it makes a difference. 86 is just barely too hot anyways. 79-83 or so is just fine.

Otherwise, slick setup. Let us know if you need anything. Always feel free to ask. Knowing is half the battle.

Welcome tpg, I grew in a similar set up to yourself with a tent in a closet, my temps sometimes got into the eighties, the only solution i found was keep a window in the room open if possible then my temps held at 75-78, mind you this was winter in the UK the wife was none too pleased with the cold bedroom but i think she was just jealous of my other ladies!

yeah i wish u could do that but my closet is pretty much sealed in the middle of the house. im going to mess with the intake and see if that helps!

I appreciate your input! I will definitely try putting the duct closer to the light in hopes of reduced temps! I will be buying more ducting soon so I will let ya know how it works out.

Seeds just came in the mail today.. I am deciding on whether to start after spring break or to go ahead and start early and find someway to automatically water the plants while im gone for 5 days
Any suggestions on this matter?
Also i would like to know about different people's experience with different germination processes.?

Just told someone else the same thing here ya go.

18-36 hour soak in a shot glass of water in a warm dark location then plant in pre-watered container of choice. Gently press the bean into your mix a bit, but not too deep and cover lightly with more mix. I cover loosely with plastic wrap to keep the moisture and humidity in. Remove wrap when it sprouts after 1-4 days.

I wouldn't plant your first bought and paid for beans and then leave for the week. Definitely wait till you get back IMO.

I did a lot of research and this particular tent was one of the most well made i found of this size.

I would also like to know do the seedlings need light? and if they do how far away should i put it from them?
