Hello and welcome

I thought I should start my own journal to maybe bypass a few common mistakes with kind help of more experienced growers :)

Anyway, I got 3 Dutch Passion Power Plants (fem) and 1 Dutch Passion AutoXtreme.
I got a pack of 3 seeds of AutoX and to the day just on has managed to show tale so it went to the soil.
So it's day 10/1/0 (Soak [read: total]/soil/pop up from soil). I decided to break it down this way to show other newbies how long IN REALITY does it take, since all we see is "flowering time" here and there which is just misleading.

[That's a 10L air-pot].

The other 2 seeds are still in soak but I'm afraid they won't make it since it took the one above 10 days to germinate and the remaining 2 haven't even open :help:

Now comes the interesting part: 3 DP Power Plants which are going to become bonsai moms (I plan to do a sea of green thing).
Got to mention that they are fem seeds. I know there are different takes on the ability of feminized seeds to be mother plants but it's too late to change anything hehe. If they fail to be mothers I will just flower them.

Day 11/6/4 (Soak [read: total]/soil/pop up from soil).

The one in the middle was the first one to show from the soil.

The one close to camera seemed kinda sick but after a day or two started to chase the middle one.

The one in the back is a different pheno - short and VERY strong. Also it's color is somewhat darker:

Mother's closet =)

Now this should be interesting since I've read tons of threads everywhere but never seen anything like this before. It is pretty easy to come up with actually.
The mother/clone space setup:

Break down:
- the white plates on the left hand side is where the 2 remaining DP AutoX seeds are trying to show proof of life =)
- the dark vertical thing on the left hand side is a sticky fly catcher. The package says it's all organic etc lol
- we have the three 3.5L pots with new-born plants in the middle
- two 120mm computer (!) fans, one blowing here, another one there. On max speed they can push up to 120 cubic meters of air per hour EACH
- on the right hand side in the back is a computer (!) power supply unit. It is used to power everything except the lights since everything is actually computer gear. It has it's own temperature-adjustable fan, so it's pretty silent
- the most interesting gadget is the one on the right hand side close to you. It's the "NZXT Sentry LXE" Touch Screen Fan Controller. It can operate up to 5 computer fans. It has 5 saparate temperature meters, one for each fan. The higher the temperature, the higher the fan speed. So in lower temperature it keeps lower fans speed thus making it's operation REALLY SILENT. I plan do add third fan in a couple of days to blow hot air off the bulbs
- the lights are 2 14-watt fluorescent lights. Yes, I know it's not much. But we are only having mothers here so I guess it's pretty much sufficient. The lights run 24/0. I actually wanted to do something like 18/6 but the lights turned out to be incompatible with timers. Anyways, I want the plants to be bushier and shorter, and that's exactly what 24/0 regimen should do.

So that's about it for now. Feel free to post your coments =)

Oh, I almost forgot to mention the soil!
It's "Bio Terra Plus" by Biocanna. They claim it to be "ph auto" because of its' organic nature. That's exactly what I needed as a newbie grower. Too much measuring, too many different fertilizers etc. I just want some weed, not trying to reach 1 gramm per watt =) So this soil is pretty much water only solution. It has everything a plant needs. Anyway, time will tell if this is true or marketing =)

Done for today.
Have a nice smoke :stylez rasta smoke:

Quick update.

The AutoX is still under the soil, however I can see it's trying to make it lol.

BTW, special thanks to DutchPassionTony who was so kind to send me some more AutoX seeds after reading I'm having problems with germination :smokebuds:

Anyway, back to future bonsai moms.

Day 13/8/6 (Soak [read: total]/soil/pop up from soil).

Lightning regimen: 24/0.
Fertilizer: none.
Watering amount: 90ml.
Watering regimen: every 2 days in the morning.

After 5 days the changes are as follows. I've got a new tent, vent, carbon filer etc.

All good except the noise lol

I guess main noise is produced by pipes, need to work on that.

All girls moved to their new home under a 250Wt CFL. Yes, not much but hey, at least it doesn't get heated like oven lol

The AutoX is in it's day 2. I guess the seeds were just plain old. Another proof to buy seeds directly from seddbank.

The three Power Plant mothers:

Day 18/13/11 (Soak [read: total]/soil/pop up from soil).

Lightning regimen: 20/4.
Fertilizer: none.
Watering amount: 100ml.
Watering regimen: every 2 days.

You might have noticed the little green things in containers.
They are Thirsty lights. What they do is they measure the siol humidity and report it by blinking with LED light. So watering becomes piece of cake.

Thanks for posting your grow! I'm not great with soiless but it looks like your girls are N hungry, at least from here.

Hey, it's not soilless, it's a mix http://www.biocanna-organics.ca/bio-terra-plus.

I actually asked a few question on feeding elswhere on this board but no replies yet )
I wanted to do a tea, I have bat guano and fish meal, but the plants are too small to make even 1L of tea as it will be just a waste of nutrients.
Can I just mix it all with water and pour in?

Update.

The AutoX, day 7 (does it develop too slow?).

The Power Plants.

Day 23/18/16 (Soak [read: total]/soil/pop up from soil).

Lightning regimen: 20/4.
Fertilizer: tea spoon of bat guano + tea spoon of kelp meal, mixed with water, for all 4 plants..
Watering amount: 100ml.
Watering regimen: every 3 days.

The AutoX, day 11.

The Power Plants.

Day 27/22/20 (Soak [read: total]/soil/pop up from soil).

I decided not to go for keeping moms, so transplanted the Power Plants to 10 L air-pots, same as the one AutoX sits in.
Difference is that AutoX sits in out-of-the-bag soil mix while the PP's went to my TLO mix of Canna bio terra plus / perlit / worm castings / bat guano.

Interesting fact. The power plants already stared to smell like weed. I need to smell it really close to the plant but still I'm kinda shocked, they are still so little but already smell :stylez rasta smoke:

Hey
:smokebuds:
It's been 7 days since last update so here we go.

Feed: all were fed with 300 ml of pH 7.0 water with molasses just minutes after the photos were taken.

Lights: switched to 12/12. Reason: want to control the power Plants's height. Yield is not really a goal, I'm just learning :kitty:

--> Interestingly, molasses seems to do the pH down thing <--
Those pH +/- solutions we get in growshops really are for industrial use. I added just one drop to 300 ml of water and pH changed from 5.4 to 9.6. What kinda chemical sh*t is that?!

Anyway:

--> AutoXtreme, day 18 <--
is doing pretty much fine.
The only thing that bothers me are those leaves
trying to do a strange curve up
(might not be well said, sorry, not a native english speaker)

please check those leaves' tips. Looks like a burn, does it? I asked for advise here and it might be pH but who knows, please tell me what you think :help:

this one has kinda same problem as #2, does it?
It's just that #2 has that on tip of leaves and this one has same kinda thing on leaves' edges.

Any feed back really appreciated

Feed: all receiving 500 ml of pH 6.8 / EC 0.23 water every 2-3 days.
Bought kitchen scale to check if plants need water. Much easier than hand-weighting method.

Cal/mag issue has gone completely.
