New Grower First Grow- Autobubble

Im sorry to hear that dude, what germ method did you use?

Oh man my.autobubble never sprouted ill be.watching this journal. Good luck man i wish u the best.

I feel your pain. One of mine sprouted, but never made it out of the soil.. not sure what happened. I dug her out and she was still in the seed after like 5 days, but I replaced her with another one.

I'm sorry to hear that dude, No sign of mine yet so I'm keeping all my fingers and toes crossed!

One slight concern though;
As I've already said, I keep the tent zipped open during the day atm, and zipped up when im asleep. When I unzipped it this morning one of my thermometers (a digital one I keep on the floor in one of the pots 'shadow') was reading above 31, although onother traditional style one I keep hanging about middle of the tents height was reading around 29.

So do you think these temps are going to causeme problems? Will I need to leave tent open during the night and sleep with a blindfold? I personally dont have a problem with this but it might be a bit harder getting my gf onboard haha!

Wzup, Dread? Subbed in and ready to watch you handle your biz! "Munch..munch..munch

Generally my seeds don't germinate on the first day. Usually 48 hours is my time. That could be due to the cooler climate in Ireland.

Everything you have itemised in the first post is spot on.

You are picking a basic feed regime made by a company who makes them specifically for canna plants. That's how I started to get back into growing after a hiatus of many years. When I first started growing I was all hydro. when I got back into it I was soil, because I didn't have money for a hydro system. Just follow the biobizz grow schedule and you'll be fine.

There's a guy on here called HaZy (I think is how he spells his name) he is one of the kings of soil grows. You really should check him out :)

If you have any specific questions let us know.

Do you have pH down and a pH meter pen? I didn't see that on your list. While not absolutely neccessary it can definitely help especially if you start having problems the first thing people will ask is what pH are you watering them with?

later dude, PM me if you need my attention fast.

Hahahaha gotta keep ya girl happy bro! 29-30 is okay. But anything over 32.5 is too high. It could cause some heat related stress. BUT... it might not. Like TheGreenBandint.. he was having some high heat (34) earlier on in his grow and it never hurt his plants. So just keep an eye on her and check. Post up a pic of your setup bro.

Hey guys! A quick update;

3 of the 4 have popped now and are just unrolling their cotyledons, looking good I'll take some photos when theyve finished making themselves look pretty :) Still no sign of the 4th, she will have been in exactly 5 days this afternoon. Not giving up hope for her, im going to be a little gutted if shes a no-show thoughas I only had 4 seeds. Fingers are well and trully crossed though!

Had a little breakthrough with the temperatures when I realised my ballast was right next to one of my air intakes, so ive moved it away which has brought temps down to just over 28, which all sounds pretty good to me!

Happy Horticulturalist, I dont have either of those things as of yet but they wont be a problem to get hold of if you think they will be handy to have. Im splitting everything with my sister so ive got a bit more wriggle room when it comes to budget. :) I do have a ph/moisture 2 in one probe but it wasnt exactly top of the range so I suspect its going to be useless for anything except give me a vague idea, so I'll have a look for some this afternoon. Any that stand out/that you would reccomend?

And JAYAR, I posted a pic of my setup in the first post of this thread, but let me know if it doesn't work and ill upload another.

Cheers everyone! Peace

A highly recommended soil probe is the CWP A8 soil PH and Moisture Meter, ( :soil: ) and as far as testing the PH of your nutrient solution, I've got a Hannah, which works pretty well

Okay temperature wise 28 (or just over 28 is still too high).

Unless you are running with very frequent watering and giving them extra CO2 in the form of a CO2 burner or CO2 injection (compressed gas bottles).

The reason why 28 is too high is really you want your plants to be 24 - 27 degrees for optimal growing. Your plants, not your air temps. Reason being is because generally the plant tops are a couple of degrees higher than the air temps because of the light radiation.

Get yourself a laser temperature gun and check them out

My two favourite PH Pens in the whole wide world are

1) Eutech Waterproof EcoTestr
http://www.progrow.co.uk/acatalog/05577_large.jpg[h=1]
2) Blue Labs pH pen
http://www.easygrow.co.nz/610-1152-thickbox/bluelab-ph-pen.jpg

Basically any top of the range pH pen $50 or OVER. That has auto turn off (so it's batteries don't die when you forget to turn it off) auto calibration (you buy some ph7 calibration fluid, dip it in and press the calibration button and it' calibrates itself, very important as ph meters need to be calibrated once a month!) temperature compensation (as temp effects the accuracy). If it has those 3 features generally it's one of the upper range ones. Don't try and save money on a pH pen as you'll just end up realising its' crap and buying a good one later. Worst case scenario the cheap ones are inaccurate and you'll think your pH is good but really it's not and you just fucked your plants costing you far more in the end.
