Hello everyone

i have a problem with most of my seeds, its been 4 days they have came out from the soil and they have very dark green and shiny leaves are turning down they are growing slow for 4 days old plus they stretching a little bit some of them..

the mistakes that i think i did
i germinate them with the paper towls method and i plant them in 500ml pots with all mix soil, i was reading that its not a big deal to start them in allmix and maybe they grow better and i on the top of them a 250 HPS in the air cooled reflector maintaining 25-26 celsiusat the top of the plants
when i put them in the soil it was dry i didnt water it before i put the seeds i did it after and the next day they baby plants was shown i water them again untill i see 20% water drainage from each pot..
i am maintaining 23-25 celsius where the plants are.. and this is the pictures i have put the weakest close to the camera so you can see better how it looks like..

they are over watered? the soil on the top now its a bit dry but deep inside it is realy wet

they have any kind of nitrogen toxicity?

if someone can help me save those baby girls it i will be very happy

thank you (:

Too much water I think. At this early stage staying on the dryer side is better, it encourages the roots to dig for water (you don't really want to water the complete medium for run off). They should recover, let them dry out for a few days. I personally like to water, very lightly, my mediums a couple days before I plant, and then just small amounts over the top once planted.

On that stage I water my plants once a week or even less often. It all depends of the size of the pot and how dry, how fast it gets....
Just lift it up after watering and check how heavi it is . Wait for a week and lift it up again, if th plants need watering because the soil is dry you will find yours pot quite light and that how you know when to water ....

thanks everyone for the advices i will not water the plants for a week and lets see what happens then..
you dont see any nitrogen toxicity issue? because of their dark colour..
is that going to effect my yields and quality or i am too stressed to care about that now?

thanks again..

.... :toke: ...always pre-moisten your soil before sowing! We'll see about the All Mix, but it might be too hot for some auto strains, lot's of tolerance variation with them,... the light mix is better for starting up in, as you can always add nutrients later,... paper towel method is fine, but I've found that it's just as fast as easier to soak the seeds in water for a day, then just plant directly about 1cm down,... no N toxicity issue I can see, the seedlings look okay so far, but watch the tips and edges for yellowing and burning signs,.... seedlings like nice, even, consistent moisture for the first few weeks, while the root system is building up,... you don't want any water stress on them, or you risk stunting,... a mister is good gentle way to spot water around the seedlings too, as needed,...

thanks waira for the tips can you tell me what i can do for stretching i have 2 baby plants have been stretched a lot and i have very close the light on them now it is about 30 cm 300w HPS its ok to blow air on them from the intake or a small fan so i make the stem a bit stronger?

thanks again btw

...I'm thinking the stretch isn't due to light intensity, but more likely that bulb's color spectrum; is it a dual spectrum bulb, meaning does it have enough blue wavelength in it to be suitable for veg'ing? It's the blue spectrum that's best by far for this phase,... if not, the red spec' tends to make them stretch more, and is sub-optimal for growth,... also, back that light up higher, or you might roast or stunt them with too intense lighting; seedlings need reduced intensity light for a couple weeks until better established,... a mild breeze on them is fine, but any more will dry the soil out fast,.. the stem will harden some with a breeze, yes, but it won't do so if they light is making them stretch too much,.. get me pics mate, to have a look at those babies!

of course

i switched from 250hps to the 600hps but i have a dimmable ballast and i have dim the light to 300hps because i thought they dont get anough light for the stretching reason.. i think its more red i took a picture with lights on so you can see what type of light it is you can also see the distance between the light and the plants on that picture
i keep 24,5 max in the growroom and the t.meter is where the plants are i blow the air there.. air is about 20-21 c

i think they are stunned they are at day 5 today and they are stil like this.. i didnt mention that i keept seeds for a year and a half in frigde in jar with rise.. i dont know if this have to do with the slow growth..

@ColorBlind check out the first week of my grow in my signature, and you'll see pretty much the same stretch situation.
Those babies were LEGGY as hell.

They were under a 600w HPS SunMaster dual spectrum.

Look familiar?
