I'm sorry I didn't see the question. What I am going to do from now on with autos, is useOF or any nuted soil on the bottom, and use something neutral on top. That way by the time the roots get to the nuted soil, it will be old enough to need the nutes
As far as the shell, I pop them off with a toothpiick. Those leaves are going to wither in a few weeks, so even if you do a little damage, it's nothing really. Just be gentle
I was thinking about that the other day when you said something about the soil being too hot. For the next run i think i will get some Fox Farm Light Warrior seed starter for the top and

Update Day 5
Not a whole lot to update. Just watered today after about 4 days. Last night WW2 finally opened up after losing her shell the previous day. Both plants are looking healthy and WW1 is starting to grow its second set of leaves.

Not much to update on the plants but there is going to be a small change of plans with grow tent and lights. The original post states that i have a 24"x24"x60" grow tent (60cmx60cmx150cm) as well as a 250watt HPS/MH. I actually ended up buying a 400 watt dimmable ballast and have been running it between 50%-75% power but controlling heat is an issue. So i plan on buying a slightly larger tent with the dimensions being 48"x24"x60". So basically this tent is just 2 feet longer than my previous one. I also purchased an air cooled hood. My current tent is too small to be able to put in an air cooled hood.
So my plan is to hopefully be able to run my light at 400 watt with the air cooled hood and new slightly larger tent and not have to worry about heat.
Any thoughts or comments appreciated!

Update Day 8
Just an update on the ladies. Today is Day 8 from sprout and they appear to be happy and healthy. I watered today with pH'd water. I think I'm having some pH issues and im guessing its related to the fox farm soil. The last time I watered with 7.0 pH water and the run off was 5.8 on one and 5.9 on another. So for the watering today I used water pH'd to 7.5 and again the pH was 5.9 for both. Is this low enough to be worried about? and how can I correct it other than just using a higher pH'd water?

I"m almost a total noob, so take the following accordingly...
I would be concerned with a runoff pH of 5.9. Although there are probably better solutions, for eight day old plants I would raise the pH of your water, maybe to 7.8 and see how they respond. Personally, as aOF user (mixed with HF) I'm not terribly surprised (but disappointed) by the first pH reading, I am really surprised that your second reading was that low. BTW, my first and only grow was WW (Ministry of Cannabis) and I'm Day 25 of a redo of my first grow. Very happy with results and very interested in how your grow goes.
