Im certainly no expert by any means but, I grow hydro, first time in a water farm but i studied it for over a year before i even thought about leaving soil, just as precaution of all the shit that can go wrong, but dont be intimidated keep charging bro and ride this out, wait till it has 2 sets of leaves and give it 1/8th strength nutes. Im in my second set going on third set of true leaves running 375 ppm and shes loving it. The amount of nutes will vary from strain to strain so having different ones at once might get tricky later on but for now keep it simple, just ph'd water my freind until week 2 or 3 IMO

NOW FOR MY QUESTION
The light thats off is a 400W HPS but it heats my tent up to 100 degrees F, and temp management has oly allowed me to take it down 10 degrees. The light thats turned on is an average aquarium light. the question i have is, if i can use this, how long will i be able to use it before i need the Big boy, or should i be using the HPS now?

If you are having a temperature problem you can get a cool tube or cool hood and duct the hit air out of the tent. I did this and It brought my temps down about 10*. Just make sure you vent it away from the tent and out of the room that the tent is in.

What I did was use 6 cfls when my plants were sprouting. After about the 2nd set of leafs I switched to my hps 400w. I have 3 plants going currently.

Get some CFLs if you can, one aquarium light will get you through the first week or two but you want them as close as you can get them..

Look into a cooltube if you can for the HPS, the weather is only going to get hotter going forward brother. Is that 77.5 your water temp? Do you know your water temp? Water temp is crucial in a set up like yours..

nice start, not sure if you did but I think you should have soaked your rockwool in ph'd water before using that may be why you were having early ph problems. Do you have any calibration solution for your ph meter? I try to calibrate mine every other week. I am also growing hydro and loving it the learning curve is a little steep and expensive at first but once you start to learn how to dial things in and read your girls its nice. +karma

@wg no that's the air temp but it was dark temp. My laptop just crapped on me so I'm on my phone so excuse reply shortness. And actually I do not know my water temp I can test it right quick. Brb.. fail. Thought I had a thermometer I'm going to have to get one tomorrow. My current air temp is 81f light on. They are like inch and a half. Tall but leaves are still very small.

@autonewbt No I do not have any calibration solution for the meter but I have another way of testing now. Until what I need arrives in the mail anyway. I'm going to try to get some pictures. Try to post them smaller than that. Those pics are to large. I've been nervous able this grow since the beginning groov, I've never even planted a seed view this.

Glad I used both free seeds, one of em I planted in the wrong and it's under developed but in trying to bring it back. I'm going to ride this out az far as I can and take it as a learning experience. I have more seeds .I will be happy az fuck if I get a harvest .it's fun and stressful. But I Ed happy when I looked in there and seen they made it out of germination. Everything and I mean everything I've learned about growing had come from here over the past four months. Sorry I'm high. Talkative weed.

My girlfriend wanted me to ask you guys this. If there was glass between the plants and the light would it block the heat in a tent
