New Grower First Grow, on the cheap....

Awesome pics WG that made what i wanted to know about the preflowers very clear. Greatly appreciated. Now if someone could just clarify on the makeshift cal/mag dosing ill be gtg for the moment. Thanks to everyone whos responded so far, the guidance and helping hands make the wait that much easier

Anyone out there have any info regarding a recommended dosage guideline for epsom and molasses as a makeshift calmag? I used 1 tbsp of molasses / gal water with 1/2 strength nutes today and they seemed to take to it well. Everything ive seen says the molasses really cant be " overdone" but to much epsom will cause an abundance of magnesium which can lead to lock out. I should have my PH pen within the next week so unfortunately i don't have those numbers available yet. But as soon as i do im sure ill have questions there to ( the formula for + / - ph given the entry and exit ph of the water still confuses the hell out of me) Any information you vets could throw my way would be greatly appreciated

I have found that a Tablespoon of each per gallon has been fine. :D Pretty much anything can be over done.

Thanks for the speedy reply squid, is this generally recommended for every feeding or is it more of an on again off again as needed supplement? I just notice that alot of people seem to get calcium and magnesium deficiency issues and id like to head that off instead of reacting to it as an issue but don't want to overdo anything since once its in im not getting it back out.

LST!!!

I started this process once the girls hit their fourth node and I love how the plants have reacted to it. So i decided to tie them down some more :D.

Trying to see how far i can get them to bush out. Currently im waiting for the silicone to dry on the 2 - 1 gallon makeshift co2 gen jugs the will be the ones in the third pic when its done. (totally stole the idea from Slinkykat here on her grow thread) Thanks Slinkykat!:five:.

And just one question this time

My plants have really reacted well to the cheap nutes and molasses so far and I was wondering if I should even bother to use epsom salt (cant afford cal mag and I have epsom on hand). The MGrow im using has some Mg in it and I dont beleive my plants are showing any mag deficiency. Is epsom used as a regular supplement or rather only when your plants are showing a deficiency and are showing signs that they are already stressing about the lack of mag intake?

I used it only IF needed. Some one else can correct me if I'm wrong but I've only had to use on 1 plant

PH pen and adjustment kit got here today! HELLLLLL YEAAAAAA!!! cant wait to get some accurate readings and giving the girls properly PH'd water after nutes etc....

Sitting at day 45 of veg atm and things seem to be looking good. The girls have been responding well to the LST and im happy with where im at currently. Hoping to sell a few things that i dont use anymore ( aka my xbox 360 that collects dust and some other gaming peripherals) to be able to get a tent and 400 w hps in a cool tube. Dreaming of getting a perpetual photo run going on.

Be careful with cutting the fan leaves. Cutting too many can stress the plant and slow growth. You should be able to LST most of it I would think and only cut the fans that may look wilted, nutrient burn, etc. Looks great so far. Good luck.

Ive only removed minimal foliage from the plant in general. Only where they were heavily shadowing new nodes that were uncovered from the LST. Seems to be a very controversial subject overall but I've been taking it easy and it hasn't seemed to stress out the girls at all.
