Welcome my friend, if I were you, I would keep it simple and go soil, no ph pen, whatever nutes you have and learn a load on the way. As you progress you can spend more, try new techniques, see what works for you and what does not.

This is just my humble opinion, but I always think it better to start easy and see where it takes you. If this is your first grow, DWC is a lot to take on. Not saying it can't be done..............whatever you choose .....enjoy ........eP.

I can only echo this good advice. Use the first grow to make your mistakes and learn from them. I did! There's a wealth of friendly help and advice here. You've landed on the best site.....

i agree with the penguin regarding your grow methods. hydro can be very rewarding. if you can survive long enough to figure it all out then its worth it but it is a lot of learning. soil is definately a lot less stressfull for a first grow. there also seems to be a lot more soil growers around than anything else so more help is readily available : )

Hey and welcome.
I am another fan of KISS, Keep It Simple ...When I started growing again I pondered and pondered what to get to grow in. Let me tell you I was glad I chose soil. I had enough "fun" with that and can't think of how I might have screwed it up if I had not!
Start with the simple and learn your plants and how the react, then you'll know what medium you will want to use.

I know this might sound crass, but it is like loosing your cherry, you never forget your first time ! Make it a happy one. Honestly, I still consider my first grow which was Syrup and Trans Siberian, to be the best and most fun I had growing.
