Hi! I am far from new to growing, indoors and out, very small scale(only a hobby to supplement meds I purchase) I have always used seeds from a bag of something decent, and in my credit the final product has always surpassed the quality of the bag the seed came from!I plan on doing 3 of the cream of the crop auto narcotic kush inside under a 400 watt hps. I only have 2 options though... a small 5x3' closet or a bedroom about 12'x12' approx. that i would wish to tent off from the window and one of the doors in the room.the closet is plenty of space from what ive learned of this strains traits but the 400watt hps produces far too much heat for me to remove in the space...ive tried. i only wish to hide my plants because my neighbors are not on the same page and id like to keep our relationship strong. that said, i have these people in my house atleast once per week and i am also nervous about smell. my nearest neighbors are 1000' away, but will these 3 plants stink up my house enough to need something for odor? if so what? My grow is in a center bedroom that is connected to a long hall by one door and is connected to bathroom and another bedroom. i plan to seal the hall door and the door between the grow and the bathroom. then use the far bedroom to enter the bathroom, close the door. open the sealed door between the bathroom and the grow and hope to isolate the smell to the back of my quite large house.Guests enter my house about 50' from the grow and about 65' from the only unsealed door leading to my plants.. I am still working out the fresh air but i hope to avoid any exhaust since the grow will be so small ( only an ounce or two expected). any advice is appreciated. this is the first time ive had to even consider concealing my hobby but i refuse to give it up!I am also interested in autoflowering varieties... i grew a random seed from a good bag and i believe it may have been autoflowering but only yielded about an 1/8th under atleast decent conditions. I also will be growing outdoor lowryder 2 this spring summer and fall outdoors. i plan to use some of the to produce seeds for a nice short outdoor patch as i have PLENTY of land lol! Help out a brother in need ! Ideas, questions or comments whatever, i have been reading the forums a while now and already respect the knowledge contained here!I have a few secrets of my own to share as well...

I don't have much experience with indoor growing but I know that at some point with a 400w hps you are going to need a extractor fan and a carbon filter for your indoor project . Outdoor is a different matter ,If you have plenty of land to use then you may want to consider a different strain . I have nothing against lowryder 2 or any of his seeds but if you are worried about size of the plants you could always train them to stay low . LST work great for this .

With a few good strains grown outdoors auto and photo you could grow once a year outside and have meds to last you till next season .Good luck and welcome to the site.

Welcome Jkb420, growing indoors without carbon filtration is a no-no imho. Every plant I have ever grown has smelt very strong, esp under a 400w HPS. I would not risk it, it just isn't worth it. I have a carbon filter, I grow in a small tent and only two plants at a time. I need ona gel to help mask light smells in flower and thats WITH a carbon filter.
My advice would be to find some way of getting a fan in that area and some extraction.

Good luck with your grow and I hope you manage to fix up something to keep it concealed.

Dazed.

JKB,

welcome to AFN. Great intro. All the best for your grows. eP.

Welcome JKB! AFN is a great place to hang! Do throw up a journal and will like to see what you have going on! Any help or questions, please feel free to ask away! Good luck and have a great time surfing our forums!

Welcome jkb!

My 2 cents....

My one Dark Devil auto in my closet cab stunk up the entire house...no doubter obvious.

I don't think any thing passive is going to get it done. I don't think cover/mask scents
or ionizers are going to achieve what you want to achieve.

Only real solution is a carbon scrubber and an exhaust fan with a sealed/tent enclosure.
They won't smell early on but halfway through or so, when they're larger and transpiring,
they are just gonna stink like pot plants do....:)

I guess it's just a cost/benefit/risk analysis...if your tolerance of risk is zero or close to
it...you'll have to go with the carbon scrubber/fan. If you feel like you can get by with
scent control for all but 3 or 4 weeks then you may be able to go that route.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the quick replies and advice! I have come up with an improved game plan and would love to start a journal as I am at day 1 today…just now as a matter of fact. I know nothing about forums and such but I would like to add anything I can to the community…help out your boy!

Just go into the "New Growers" sub-forum or "Indoor Growing" sub-forum and click the "post a new thread" button in the bottom left (aprox.) Give it a snazzy title and start typing :)

I suggest "New Growers" not because of your experience level but because you're new to autos and that sub-forum receives the most traffic and assistance. :)

JKB,

yes it can be daunting at first if you are not a forum user. Even if you are, but are used to a different style, it can be very confusing.
Just keep playing around and exploring. You won't break anything. Before long you will start to feel at home and start to navigate around like an "old pro".
And by that I don't mean selling your ass!

Avagudun, eP.
