New Grower First (hopefully not of many!) problems

I neglected to mention, there are 2 purples in there too, other than being yellow and gangly (how they were given to me) they are fine. No curling what so ever. Only differences are soil type and species

You should try to let them have a wet/dry cycle of some kind, the pot should feel lighter before you water again. Definitely don't keep the soil saturated. If you constantly water your pH will always be low.

In my personal experience runoff is never very accurate, and the solutions can be out too. Even a cheap soil pH meter is better imho.

Not sure if you are aware of this but I'll post it anyway, esp if you plan to keep using run-off tests,

Rough Calculation Guide:

Here's some good info on ph.....
If your runoff pH is higher than your starting pH, use this equation to determine your soil pH:*
Soil pH = Runoff pH + Difference

If your runoff pH is lower than your starting pH, us this equation:
Soil pH = Runoff pH - Difference.

For example, say your the starting pH of your solution before it goes in is 6.5 and the pH of your runoff is 7.0. The difference is +0.5, so using the above equation:
Soil pH = 7.0 + 0.5*
Soil pH = 7.5

If your starting pH is 6.5 and your runoff is 6.0, your difference is -0.5 and using the above equation:
Soil pH = 6.0 - 0.5
Soil pH = 5.5

hope that helps,

Dazed..

Ok dazed, thanks.
will hold off watering for a couple days then and see how things go.
not any worse this evening but no better either.
plants still seem to be growing quite well so hopefully won't affect them too badly!

Quick update,
plants are all growing up fast. They are shooting out loads of leaves and branches. The stems are all getting fat, hopefully that's good!
the new leaf growth seems to have much less curling. I didn't water for 3 days until today when I gave them a litre each. Won't water again now for 3 days unless they look like they need it. Starting to cause a bit of a stink in there, nice opening the door to it in the morning!

Back down on the feed a little Land-Rover buddy :)

The burning tips are usually a sign of over fertilization (or nute burn)
Dial back to where you were a couple of waters ago and carry on as normal from there and it should work itself out!

If it were needing more feed - it would normally start going pale green

All the best
Blue ^_^

Edit: It's looking really nice by the way :)

:d5:

Thanks blue
i ruled out nute burn as I actually haven't given them any since I repotted them.
the only nutes in there are the ones which were already in the soil! (2 weeks worth apparently)
still haven't given them anymore so will continue to hold off

Another update and another problem!
plants are all going into flower now so am about to switch nutes.
my problem is that some of the lower fan leaves are developing yellow spots. When you look close it looks like the top layer of leaf has been removed on these spots. The leaves are then curling upwards and drying out.
anyone got any idea what's going on?? Thanks
