Yep, worm bin for the win. Got mine in the basement. Love my little hermie wormies. Vermicompost is the pretty much the foundation of my mix. Good stuff.

I do a lot of juicing and always have lots of pulp left over. Could I use that or is it too acidic? I know they eat paper and cardboard too right?

Shouldn't be a problem. I haven't done it but I know The Rev says in his book that he does. If in doubt, use in moderation in a small section of the bin so the worms have a place to escape to.

And they do eat paper and cardboard. They love to lay their eggs in the spaces of the corrugated cardboard.

The big three don'ts are foods that are salty, oily, or acidic. Other than that it's fair game

I always do a kind of pre-compost with my food scraps before giving them to my worms. I save up for a few weeks mixing the scraps with coco fiber and then fill the next tray in my bin. Anything acidic has some time to be be neutralized a bit by the micro beasties.

Makes sense, thinking about it you could also throw some oatmeal in too as a buffer. I haven't had to think too much about it since I've been keeping mine well fed with composted leaf matter, garden scraps and organic egg shells and coffee grounds.

DAY 7 UPDATE

So one week down for these little ladies and everything is peace and love. I gave them some calmag in their watering on Saturday, and I'll probably give them some more on Wednesday and make it a twice weekly thing at the light dosage. Other than that just straight RO water when they need it. These posts are going to be short if something doesn't go horribly wrong soon!! Anyway, I'll throw up some photos and thank my blessings that everything is peace and light. Take care everyone.
