Stone P. What you mean is trichomes. They go from clear to milky to amber and then THC starts degrading when black. I believe your general rule is about right.
Now, the pistils. The long white strands on the flower will go from white to various shades of yellow, orange, red and finally brown at harvest time. Some strains differ slightly. Pistils are just the female flower's pollen collectors.
