kits with the color chart you can test what you put in and test the water that comes drains into the pan.

Just so you'll know... kits with color charts can only render an accurate reading if the water is clear. Stained water will always render a skewed color in the test sample. Reliable water pH meters are not expensive. I'd get one if I had to save up a couple months to put the $20 together. It's that important, IMHO.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. I'm definitely spooked on the cheap soil meters for now, though some have had good luck with them. I ended up buying a nice pH meter for my water, and I couldn't be happier with it so far. I plan to do a review of it soon. At this point I'm going to rely on run-off testing since I know I can trust those numbers, and maybe down the road I'll look at another soil meter.

I agree that the drop kits are tough to use unless the liquid is clear. With discolored runoff, I don't think you can really get much more accurate than a 1 point of pH. But if nothing else they're good to have around as a fallback in case a meter dies suddenly.

Good job bro! Yours are way bigger than mine at that stage! I'm glad you are moving right along now! :smokebuds:

Lookin' good AB. I still use a Milwaukee meter, it takes awhile to get to it's final reading (probably a solid minute), but I still have a gallon of 7.01 ref storage/calibration solution... so until that's gone, my Milwaukee isn't going anywhere, bahaha. I tried to do part of my last grow just off of knowing how much my nutrients did my pH and how much +/- I'd add normally, it worked pretty well.. then I realized I locked the plants out of the 6.1+ range for awhile and said screw it and brought the old Milwaukee back out and decided a minute is worth it. Treat those PR's good and they'll love you long time.. I love PR.

Back again for another weekly update. The Pakistan Ryder went from 6" tall to 11" tall in 6 days(!), and the Fruit grew from around 8" to 10". Unfortunately a lot of this growth and flowering were fueled by the largest fan leaves, which have mostly been trimmed off now after going completely brown/yellow. I've slowly recovered from my pH drop down into the 4 range, and now the girls are finally able to take on some nutes rather than feeding on themselves. There are still some damaged leaves that I've left in place, and it appears that they haven't gotten any worse in the last few days. Tonight I fed with 6.6 solution and the runoff was 6.5 in both pots, so I'm hopeful that things are dialed back in and I'll be good to go for the rest of flowering. After all this stress I've been on hermie watch every day, but no sign of anything yet - knock on wood.

Speaking of flowering, the Fruit is thickening up nicely and looks like she'll have a solid main cola. The pungent smell had faded a bit during the nute lockout, but it's getting stronger again by the day. Considering all the problems lately, I'm very happy with how this one is flowering so far. The PakRyder started off slow, and despite now being a little taller than the fruit, it's way behind with the flowering. The problems sure haven't helped, and at this point I'm not expecting a whole lot out of her. But I've got over a month to go, so hopefully she'll fill in her lanky frame with some thick bud.

I've been looking into expanding my grow area, and the rapid growth this week spurred me into ordering a new 4x2 tent. I also picked up a T5 fixture, so once I get the larger space set up, I'll be able to use my CFLs for side lighting the rest of the way. I'll also be able to grow a few more plants at a time, which I'm eager to do since these two likely won't have a large yield. On to the pics!

Beautiful looking plants man. You're going to love the smoke of the PR, believe me!

Tiered transplanting is GREAT for them, they bush out so much in their second growth spurt. I honestly pulled another 10g dried off of a tiered transplanted one that was RIGHT NEXT to it's sister in the closet.

lookin good bro keep it up. :smokebuds:

Yeah the quick growth of the PR is one reason I pulled the trigger on the new tent. I've got about 11" between her and the lights fully raised, so another growth spurt like she had this week and things will be getting really tight. She started out small and has always been a bit of a runt, so it was nice to see some height. I just hope the flowering picks up speed now that I'm able to get some nutes to the roots.
