Indoor first time grower needs help

hey AFN
im am a first time grower, im growering a feminized cheese ( i know feminized seeds are frowned upon but given i can only grow one plant at a time it seemed like the logical choice) she is growering in organic soil under sunlight and is 13 days old. she has had 2 waterings the second of her watering was given today. i thought everything was going well until last night i noticed that her stem was leaning over ( at firth i thought she was just leaning towards the sunlight so didnt seem like much of a problem) but then earlier today when i watered her she flopped down :cry:, straight away i added soil to the base of her stem to add more support but im not sure if thats the best thing to do. Is there a way to make her stem stronger without the use of rods as i dont want to damage her roots?
by the way guys this photo was taken after i added soil to the base of her stem, before she had collapsed and was completely horizontal i couldnt bring myself to a photo of her

Its not frowned upon my friend its just that they are hard to keep female little things can stress it out and make it hermie thats what you have to worry about slight things like nute deficiency can stress it just baby the hell out of it and you should be fine.. as for ur support problem if you have more soil try to transplant fill up the pot more to the first set of leaves to stable the stem then if your using grow lights make sure you move them closer and if your using real sunlight make sure its getting complete and direct light u dont want it reaching and strecthinto get light thats all i can really think of without rods hope this helps :thumbs:

Hey man welcome to AFN If your wanting to strengthen the stem I'd advice having some air pushed her way mate,either by a fan or by opening a window if the breeze is strong enough,that should help beef her stem up

Sorry to hear about your issues over there but soon enough i am sure you will learn a ton!!

Sounds to me that you are having and issues with dampening off. This is a problem that occurs at the base of the plant where it meets the soil.
If the soil stays too moist there for too long with no proper air flow a fungus will form and the plant will fall over as you described.
Looking at the soil it seems a little wet. At that age in life my plants only get 5ml every day until they start to fill the pot.

Rods or sticks will not damage the roots to bad with this little one. If this is an auto it only becomes an issue if you transplant
as you do not want to disturb the root ball. I would let the soil dry out and back off the waterings until you see her using it more
and the pot is dry at least one knuckle deep before you water again.

I had this problem once and I just added more soil to the pot until it was just below the cotylydons. And like FD said dont let your soil stay moist for too long. Hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum. As previously suggested, get some air movement on your seedling. Even a very light breeze will help to strengthen the stalk. What are your plans for this plant? Are you intending to move it outdoors when it gets a little bigger?

Looks ok to me in the pic, if you watch a time lapse photo vid of a seedling growing, it leans all over the place usually in a spiral motion and eventually stabilizes once it gets enough leaves to not need to search for the light anymore... Could be dampening off but I doubt it, there would be discoloration starting around the base where it met the soil, and personally have never had a dampening off problem this early, the buried stem just starts growing more roots.. I have a pic somewhere of this root ball, I'll see if I can find it...

Thank all of you for you support :thumbs: im going to add more soil to my pot tomorrow and im going to easy off the watering for a while but it get hard looking at her soil all dry shes my baby and like any proud parent i just want to look after her ( happy she's a female or all the pampering im giving her could been seen as homo activities, not that im against gays to each his own)
To answer muddy im going to keep her growing indoors she gets alot of sunlight and i cant find a secure outdoor grow space i wish i could grow outdoors, specially now the sun is really working hard.

I know it's hard, but try not to overlove her. If she gets a little dry, you'll be able to perk her right back up with some water. But if you go to far in the other direction and drown/rot the roots, you can kiss her goodbye for good. There will be plenty of time to take care of her down the road when she's bigger and needs more attention. :thumbs:
