New Grower First Timer

damn dude, they sure came along way in 8 days

i've never scrogged or laid down netting but I lst'd my last grow, they are looking good, nice big ass healthy fan leaves

have you seen any pistils in the bud sites yet?

The grow tent is a almost a meter cube - AgroMax Window Grow Tent - Original Short Stack (39.25x39.25x30.50 tall.) I'm growing in a 46" tall space. I've elevated the floor of the tent to the top edge of the hydro unit. 24" is the most I'll have for space for the light above the floor of the tent where the plants sit.

The plants were cranking when they developed a yellowish, almost fuzzy, look in the meat of the leaves between the veins. The lower leaves are now half dry and crumbeling off at the ends. There's a little damage to the 2nd set of leaves but the rest of the plants look healthy. It's affected the smallest plants the least. I flushed the system because when I noticed the problem I increased the strength of the nutrient solution and then decided to start from scratch.

I added TechnaFlora MagiCal at the recommended strength. I'm running all of other nutes at 25% of the recommended level. I'd love a simpler nute system. Any advice? Has anyone tried Advanced Nutrients buffered nutrients?

Thanks for the advice to foliar feed I was worried that that would be the final nail but I'll try it now. I have this SM-90 that I am using in the reservoir. Anyone have any experience with SM-90?

You want simple and good results? Look at my First Grow hournal. All I used through the entire grow was General Hydroponics Maxi grow then Maxi Bloom. Its a dry formula and you get enough for many grows! I grew White Widow and I got 6 ounces ( 168 grams ) dry from one plant! I also used tap water, so I never had cl mag issues.

Yes there are pistils. How do I know when to switch to bloom nutes? When you LSTed your plants did you bend you plants over or just spread them out? Thanks

Wait until the vertical growth stops or slows dramatically (about week 6ish) and then start adding bloom nutes :)

When you LSTed your plants did you bend you plants over or just spread them out?

Tie them down to keep them low. I like to spread the plant out to get an even cannopy, the main stem will need to be bent over and tied down, side braches just tied and pulled down.

Carefully does it at first - you dont wanna break an arm off hehe - but if you do, don't panic - just get some tape .. or a plaster ... or whatever to fix it up.

(this might not work if you totally snap it off - but mostly if you bodge it, you'll know before you rip the branch off lol)

Good luck
All the best

Ozone Generator?

Anyone have an ozone generator recommendation?

Rust?

I have another def/tox problem. IMG_1284.jpgIMG_1281.jpgYou can see the evidence of the first deficiency in the lower leaves. This problem looks different more like rust. I am feeding Technaflora Receipe for Success. 50% of the recommended dose except the Magical at 100%. My ppm average around 600. Temp around 78F and 66F in the dark. Res temp is 73F and the ph is 5.9 I'm running my LED 21/3 (I always have to reinvent the wheel.) I leave a 60W CFL on 24 hrs. Any thoughts?

i cant see the pic very well but from what i can see id say its lacking calcium.

Hello KannibisKing, I am using the full prescribed strength of Magical. Should I use more than recommended? I've been reading on AFN that others have a similar problem growing under LED lights. Thanks for the reply.

Hi Jack'- That's Ca and a little Mg defc. all the way,...looks like your pH is fine, so lockout is a non-issue,... The random scattered brown spots are Ca defc. symptoms, and the pale areas on the leaf between veins looks like early Mg defc.; there's a good reason why these two are paired together in so many supplements! ..wish I knew the scientific reason behind why, but.... :dunno: Some plants can be serious Ca-Mg hogs, when others right next to them are fine... see it all the time here! So, Magical has a good conc. of stuff, but if it's not keeping up with the demand, and you don't want to mess with the res' soln. for the other plants, I recommend a foliar spray; it's the fastest way into the plant, hands down, and it takes the roots/medium out of the equation; now, to maximize the effectiveness, you should use a water spreader/wetting agent in the foliar soln.; this stuff takes the surface tension out of the soln., so it coats more evenly instead of just beading up... and the way nute's get absorbed by leaves, simply put, the more surface area covered= more absorbed! As I have no experience with Hydro, I don't know if upping the Magi-cal conc. in the res' beyond what's recommended is going to mess with the rest of the balance in there,... likely not, and you can try it, but at this stage, foliar is the way to go! Water spreaders are readily available, and most are not expensive,... If you want to try this, let us know, and we'll talk you through it- respond at the LTH thread plz, so we see it sooner!
