you need to burp the jars to release the humidity and let in fresh air. Since my jars are the same as yours, they only are holding 1-2 oz so I just dump them out for an hour or so and pop them back into the jar. Boveda packs help too.

Buds are at 63% after a long airing. I received the wrong size Boveda packs. So I think I'm going to leave it alone with the lid on the jar for a couple days. The smoke seems to becoming more mild and it's burning well but I'm not going to win any awards for flavor.

Since your buds got down to 45% while drying it probably will not cure normally but may well improve some over time. Still it sounds like you ended up with some nice bud. Give it 4 to 6 weeks and you may find it mellowing out.

Thanks oldster, It already seems better than when I first pulled it off the branchs. I am happy that I have enough but to get me through to my next harvest.

yeah, the chlorophyll in freshly dried buds always makes for a rough smoke. Breaking down the chlorophyll is one of the key things that happens during a normal cure.

You could do a water cure on it. It will make for a very smooth but bland smoke. I used to do it to mine until we stopped smoking and started using a vaporizer. If you are interested in doing that and need details let me know.

Yes Please! What's a water cure?

Basically you are soaking the buds in water to remove anything water soluble including any excess nutes and chlorophyll. Since most of the cannabinoids including THC and CBD are fat soluble they are not effected.

I find a bowl that will just fit a plate inside of it.
Put your bud to be water cured in the bowl, add enough distilled water to cover the buds and place the plate on top of the bud to weight it down. It is very important to keep all the buds under the water and make sure you do not trap any air under the plate. Put the bowl in the refrigerator.

Change the water daily for 5 days. the first day the water will be dark greenish brown and will slowly get lighter each day.

At the end of 5 days drain the water and spread the buds on a towel to dry. It will dry much faster than fresh buds (12 to 24 hours normally)

You could use tap water but distilled water works better

If you don't keep the buds fully under the water the parts exposed to the air will get slimy.

Good luck

Thanks oldster, I really appreciate the knowledge. I'm going to try the water cure with some of it and let some age to see what that's like. I've been smoking for about 35 yrs. and I never knew how little I know.

The bud's mellowing out with age and I picked up a gallon of distilled water to try the water cure.
