A general question: Any reason(s) why even high-end lights have evenly spaced LEDs, resulting in much less light at the periphery, much more in the center? Why not space, angle or focus the LEDs to provide even intensity within the full area the lights are claimed to cover? Seems like a no-brainer in terms of marketing. As it is, I prefer using multiple smaller lights, which with overlaps between them presumably provide more even coverage.

I've been looking for a light for my 4x4, but there are very few designed for even intensity. Looking at these PPFD maps, I'm just not interested. Is everyone designing lights presuming they will be used next to, overlapping with other lights or what?
