This was in todays Tampa Bay Times.

* Could pot be Florida's next big cash crop? The Senate's Agriculture Committee will mull over SB 902, sponsored by Sen. Jeff Clemens, D-Lake Worth, that would establish hemp as a crop that would register with the state's Department of Agriculture . The "Hemp Industry Development Act" would give the department the authority to test and inspect hemp and to collect a fee, but only to cover costs associated with testing and inspection. (4 p.m. at 301 S).

By sleeping through it I mean that now is the time to be sounding in on the issues of both home growing and euphoric strains. And I'm not seeing it happening. I can relate this same situation to the "Bucket Fishermen" situation of the early 1990's.

The state legislature had decided that something had be done about the commercial fishing industry. So they held hearings.
They heard from the lobbyists of the commercial fishermen,
the lobstermen,
the aquarium trade,
the crabbers,
c
lammers and oyster farmers.
and the equipment suppliers of all.

No major action was taken against them.

So they turned to the sport and hobbyist "Bucket Fishermen" who would sell much of their small catch, already regulated by limits on size and numbers, to the shops and restaurants to cover expenses. They were never even on the table as sport fishing was not on the agenda so they had no lobbyist or any other representation. In the blink of an eye and the stroke of a pen, they were forbidden to sell any of their catch ever again . Several attempts to have it overturned have failed.

Glad to have another Floridian here, but yes it is sad, how many people here don't pay attention or care to our politics.

Florida here also. Is there a AFN instantmessenger type chat? Sorry super new here and still looking around.

Nope, there's a live gossip thread that we use to just chat amongst members. I believe there was one a long time ago but has since been taken out. Only other thing is private messaging a member

That feature had to be disabled to deal with Denial of Service attacks that some little shit launched when he got his feelings hurt.
