Hello AFN I was jw about if I would have to do a2week flush if I'm growing with organic nuts

Even with organics, 10 days to 2 weeks is a good idea (even organics have tastes and traces you probly don't want).
Just remember, it's more of a "cleansing" as opposed to a flush. Straight pH'ed water with the usual 15-20% run off.

What's the significance of PH'ing plain water for cleansing? I was under the impression we PH nute solutions because the elements can only be absorbed within certain ranges, whereas in the cleanse all of the nutrients that are going to be used are already stored in the leaves. Really hoping someone has a good answer for this as I've never PH'd my cleansing water before! :peace:

I think it depends on your water....if people have very hard water that's in the 8's, I imagine that alkalinity could be bad for the plants in ways other than locking out minerals...on the subject of minerals, I wonder if a component of the flush/cleanse (;)) is the plant's continued need for minerals found in regular water....if that's the case, there's your reason for pH'ing...to guarantee no lock-out from those. It may be the case that people with regular water that happens to be around neutral don't really have too.

I live a couple miles away from where my water first transformed from snow to a liquid and it travelled down a mountain-side's worth of rocks to my tap....very hard, very full of minerals. :)

Before cleanse, The plant wont lockout. It will simply burn its stores of energy, and NPK. Which would look like lockout. The PH debate has gone on for a long time, when its time for the final cleanse. I do NOT ph my water to cleanse the plant at the end of the grow. It is my opinion, that you should not, and do not, want chemicals(ph up and down)in your plant before chop. You let the plant canibalize itself and use up all ist own stores of NPK and it put the plant in survival mode to create more trich's and fatten up before its life cycle is over on its own stores. All I can suggest is to do 1 plant with ph cleanse and 1 plant with plain tap water and separate them for drying and be your own judge. Also, don't want any mixed feelings on the matter, but you dont have to keep your plant in total darkness for 24-72 hours before chop. That business is a myth. I do however feel like you should chop your plants before the light cycle turns on. Just my "My 2 cents"

With organic growing pH up or down should never be added... Ever.. In flush or in the grow stage... The soil corrects pH for you.. :Sharing One:

If done properly, that is what is supposed to happen, and it is proven to be correct by Organic Vegetable Farmers I have association with.

What I say next is just a theory...

I don't know if flushing will do any good. At least if you amend your soil from seed to harvest, won't you still have stuff in the soil? I mean is there any real way to get rid of it all?

I would think that maybe a better way, if needed, would be to cut the plant, and stick the stalk in a big jar of water.

However, with that hairbrained scheme out of the way, I am not sure anything will change what's already in the plant

Just my two cents folks

Peace
