Live Stoner Chat FREE Seeds Equipment & Honesty

Based on personal experience of being on both sides of the product provider and product evaluator (company, not personal or cannabis related) relationship, sometimes these situations can be a slippery slope. On the evaluator side, I always asked the product provider before agreeing to evaluate, "Are you comfortable with the possibility that our review may be less favorable, perhaps even negative, than you would like?" I made our decision to participate or not based on HOW the question is answered. The answer occasionally was quite revealing ....

Thanks to True for his thoughtful, introspective original post and to pop22's response among others. However, I think I disagree slightly with pop's comment "Honesty is what they want (in a review)". If only it was universally true ...

Let me rephrase that. A company worth dealing with, will want honesty. And that's what you should always give wanted or not!

This is where documenting with pictures comes in,if it's done well with regular updates it would be difficult to deceive,or am I very nieve lol saying that I have seen some yield claims that I didn't believe but I think that's bravado more than anything.

TaNg, On AFN, you have seen bogus yield claims?
Whose?
There is only one yield claim that I have doubts about, as there were no pictures of the final cut or weight, just the word of the grower. But as everyone seems to accept the claimed weight as the gospel and the plant was impressive, and I think it is within reach, I have kept my doubts to myself.
It's why I show pictures and weight on the larger plants.

As for truth telling , when reviewing.
Seeds- man I feel terrible when seeds don't germ well, or the plants don't grow to my expectations. My experience is that the more experienced breeders and those with larger better equipped facilities have a better germ rate than new to the game breeders. Doesn't mean there are not really good new breeders on the scene, just that experience is a big plus.
So, that said, I usually don't blame the breeder for poor performance if a plant does poorly, just relate my experience.
However, I did get slapped on the wrist by a breeder after referring to the stock he was working as "small" and I was not even being insulting.
Other products, I generally try to give even handed reports, if I have a problem with something, I will contact the company and ask about the problem. How they respond is absolutely imperative to my impression of the problem. Good customer service and interaction will go a long way in compensating for an issue that pops up. Bad customer service or lack of customer service is nearly insurmountable in my book and I will nail a company to the wall for it.
Even when you have a great final product, you must have the customer service to back it up or people will hate doing business with you.

Yeah, know what you mean, let's say the reduction from wet to dry is around 75 %, then to get 750 G dry 3 kg wet is needed, 1 kg dry is 4 kg wet and so on..... Perhaps growing skills involve growing in such a way that drying from wet to dry is significantly less than the approx 75 % most ordinary folks experience..... Who knows.....But an urban legend was born!

Absolutely, right off the upright bat.

I agree with the sentiment and absolutely fair reviewing is crucial to the sites and a persons credibility.!Seeds in a cannabis growing community are going to be shared out in that community. Especially when you can watch them being grown out and have the pleasure to share them with life long enthusiasts.of course theres business, but business we all want to support. Members are free to say if they are sponsored or not but I'm sure we know that already.Laters

Painfully honest with pictures to back up good or bad, or maybe a improvement upon an already made item/set up! I the realm of testing, you will eventually hurt someone's feelings. You have to go into it with the attitude of "they are wanting to really know about their product" and you will be golden every time. If there is a problem with something, dont be so harsh as to bash it, but give suggestions for improvement. THAT information is invaluable, due to the fact, that a false report from you will most likely cost the company money down the road and if you were a business owner, you wouldn't want to kick out products that everyone are being mocking behind your back and costing you money on an inferior product. Call a spade a spade!:Sharing One:Be part of the solution in anything, not part of the problem and I guarantee, no matter the outcome, you will be able to look at your self in the mirror!

It's usually people who come on and just do one diary,I remember when Big Buddha Cheese auto was released and this guy came on and did just the one BBC diary and that was it, I grew a BBC at the same time and got a bigger plant yet my yield was half his lol. These are the threads to watch out for if its a long standing member testing a product great but if a new member comes on with a new to the market product I will always have suspitions.

Hey people just to say thanks for all the messages and rep about this post.
From the feedback Ive had this is a subject lots of you have thought about before but not discussed.
Cheers all :)

I think all of us have experienced the feeling when we get dissapointed in some product. Although some authority grower swears by it. It is just marketing.. we want to believe in miracle products that solve some problem of ours.

And also there is other way around - where product is good but the user is mediocre or just plain ignorant. I too have done it 4-5 years ago, when i blamed the seed company for a bad strain. NOW i know that i made a lot of mistakes then and that is I, that messed up. So now i`m just ashamed of being so ignorant and blaming someone else in my lack of experience.

Plant is a living organism and the life it (she:)) has is full of wonders and is not easy to learn. People mostly don`t know how hard is actually growing and getting awesome results consistently. It is a long way to master the theories and try everything out in practice. We need to fail to learn.

Sorry, got carried away while vaping some herb :)
