Thanks for doing an intro. With a setup like that, you either have done some top homework, or have been blessed by the virgin canna fairy. Welcome to AFN, here to help encourage and share. We would love to see some pictures when you are ready and as I always say.......sing to them, they love it......eP.

The Canna Fairy did visit me. She dropped off some old growing books and from there this idea blossomed. Granted... the fair would be a frilly transsexual woman. But hey, what are friends for I would sing if I could! I talk to them like they are kids. However, they did like my rendition of Dont Stop Believing

Hi LPG and welcome to AFN ,so far looks like you are doing an awesome job,the little ones will reward you with their goodness!! You may have already been given these few tips but just in case..leaving the water in the buckets help the chlorine dissipate ,the chlorine is not good for the beneficial bacteria in the soil.,when filling the pots take the media level to about 1/2 inch of the tops to allow for settling,Peace !!

You're off to a great start really. As for the pots and when to water, that just takes time and experience. There's a couple tricks for when they're seedlings: if you can get a pack of the clear party cups, you can put 1 upside down over each seedling for the first week or so, this keeps them humid and protects a bit if you have strong lights. You'll notice the soil underneath the little cup dome stays more moist. (I wouldn't use glass cups though, that could accidentally magnify the light and burn em). I think yours are past the cup dome point though.

As for pots, yeah it just takes time to figure out when they need water. Overwatering is easy to do though, and canna needs dry periods (in soil) so the roots go hunting
Next time when making your pots, try to fill em up to the top but make like a bowl, so the sides are kinda built up an inch (couple centimeters) higher than the middle. This helps against water running right out the sides, especially in fabric pots.

The hardest part of letting water sit out is keeping the cat out of it XD I finally came to the conclusion that I needed to cut open holes in a lid and let it dissipate that way. I didnt know it was for chlorine though. I figured it had to do with the PPM of everything in the water that would just stunt the growth. Had NOOOO idea about the bacteria though!!!! I have been trying to keep everything as sterile as possible (in a home environment with a cat ) that I didnt even thing about good bacteria.

I wish I had filled it more when I started! Would it be beneficial to fill it up more as the plant grows?

Didnt even know there were clear solo cups! I really like that idea. I used saran wrap and it was a pain in my butt. It didnt even keep the humidity in. Once they popped I hoped for the best and took the wrap off. Ever since I have wished for them not to die in the low humidity!

I watered again today (I hope this isnt too much!) The soil was really dry and the little guys leaves were ever so slightly curling up at the tips of the jagged edges. I am scared to death of killing these things with water. I failed horticulture class in high school and was deemed to have a black thumb. I also killed off my science fair project twice.

Noted!! Is it worth filling more in as the plant grows? I dont know if adding more soil now will mess with the stalk and soil material.

I am actually switching it over this week I read online that you are supposed to change lights around 2- 21/2 weeks. Is that ok?

Yea it's ok lOl no rules to growing I was jus curious cuz I'm on my first grow and that was one of the questions I always thought about when I would switch over

Till I get some harvests under me I am going by what the internet says. Sometimes the internet tells the truth How did the switch go for you??
