Hi folks.
Ive had a good look through this forum looking for a similar case to mine but havent been able to find anything similar to help answer my problem.
I have 2 Sweet Seeds, Dark Devils in full flower. They have been in full flower for a few weeks now, all growth stopped 2 weeks ago, the buds have not changed or grown at all in that time so its obvious theyve finished flowering, heres my problem, the leaves are yellowing all over, including the little leaves in the buds, trichomes are nearly all cloudy with quite a few amber so in my opinion based on my experience with photo strains they are definitely ready for harvest but none of the pistils have changed colour, they are all fluffy and white.
With photo strains the pistils have to be brown before harvest. Are autos the same ? These plants look like theyre ready to die but according to the pistils theyre not ready.
I honestly feel Im going to lose them very soon if I dont harvest them.
What do I do ? Harvest and ignore the white pistils or wait for them to turn brown ?
Ive never seen anything quite like this so all and any advice is gratefully received. Thanks folks.

I think most votes would be for a pic.

Yeah figured that would be the case.
Im useless with stuff like that but I'll try.
Picture a plant packed with buds.
60% of the leaves are yellow.
Trichomes say its ready, leaves say its ready. I reckon its ready.
Pistils say its not ready.

It sounds like its ready for the chop but without some pics to look at then we cant be much help.

Actually a photo wouldnt show much. Its the fact that nothing has changed in 14 days that gets me.
Its like its frozen in time.

This is really strange. Can you post a picture of the bud? Usually the pistols turn brown first then you have to wait for the trys to ripen. If you have lots of ambers ,I would say they are ready and chop them, and ignore the pistols.

It does sound strange doesn't it Nam I would say chop also but I would still like to see a pic

Ok buddy heres how it works

While your pistols are popping out your bud is also growing.

The fact that you have white pistols but some amber trichomes may mean that those amber trichomes are only on the outside of the bud and not internal.

I would leave a week to see if your pistols start to brown/orange

How is the bud? is it compact? or airy? Some phenotypes flower very slowly - have you stopped feeding?

How long were they in flower for? You said a few weeks? they are no where near done if its only been a few weeks

Just checked so in flower for a few weeks and stopped growth 2 weeks ago - so at around 5 weeks?

If this is the case the nitrogen could be due to a lack of nitrogen as some strains actually want more N than others in flowering. Yellowing is only really severe in the last 2 weeks of bloom so generally after 6 weeks with indica and after roughly 10-12 weeks with sativa

Thanks namvet. I reckon you are right. I have taken photos and will post them when I figure out how to but in the meantime, I have just checked them again now 18.00 Hrs after checking them at 08.00 Hrs and the yellowing in places is mere millimetres from the buds. I cant wait any longer, I will have to chop them regardless of the white pistils.
I reckon Ive got about 10 to 20% amber trichs which is more than Im happy with.
This is really odd.

Kaju.
They had been in flower for about 4 or 5 weeks before all growth stopped. That was 2 weeks ago, I stopped feeding 2 weeks ago, just water now and buds are all nice and tight. The amber trichs are evenly spread across the buds.
I think I have no choice but to harvest them, they really look like they will go completely yellow in the next few days.
