New Grower germinating autoflower?

I agree, I never put in final pots - mostly because I want to know if they are going sprout and cant afford to waste the soil. What I do is use decomposable card seedling pots (from B&Q I think) which are about 250ml each and put then in a plastic container filled with soil (probably equivalent to jifi seedling pelets) . I do this because the really small pots I use are a nightmare to keep watered - they dry out in hours, so the the soil in the container helps hold water (this could be why the cling film or high humidity method started). This also has the effect of me be able to lift the pots and check if any roots are growing out the bottom/sides, and if so, they are ready for transplant and I pot into their final pot without breaking the root ball but knowing they are going to expand into it. By this time the plant is usually at least 3-5 inches tall with two sets of leaves.

If I use the paper towel method, how should I keep it in there for? And do I leave it in the dark or put it under light?

I put mine in a dark cabinet and check on it about every 12 hours until i see a healthy taproot emerge then i carefully put it into soil...thats how i did it when i used that method... be careful though the main reason i started germing straight into the final pot is because i would sometimes drop them while moving them to soil with tweezers lol

When its sprouted and planted in the soil (2-3mm deep), do I then give the plant its 20/4 light cycle?

yea man after you put it in the soil you can put it under your light, good luck :smokebuds:

thanks for your help. When the seed is in the paper towel, how many times should I water it a day?

No problem I use a spray bottle and spray the top of the paper towel every 12 hours when I check on it, make sure it just stays moist not soaking wet :smokebuds:

Hi Reu

When the seed is in a moist folded paper towel and the paper towel is in a sealable bag in a box, you shouldn't need to water it again. The bag will keep the moisture in and the heat source (whatever you pop it on) should produce moisture in the seal able bag.

Pop it in, leave it and 24 hours later gently take a peek - if no tails, fold back over (should still be moist) and pop back in the bag.

You shouldn't need to re water your paper towel

last question lol

When the root pops out of the seed and I put it in the soil (1 inch deep). How much water should I pour into the pot.
