Hello folks...I couldn't find any solid info on this like I wanted so here goes...and I know there is a bit of controversy on this matter, I just wanted some more opinions and personal testimonies on the matter at hand.

Does anyone plant there beans straight into your outside containers/holes?
Like without starting them indoors first...

I know the suggested and preferred method for both Autos and Photos is to start them indoors for about 4 weeks before hardening off and transplanting outside, but surely there are growers that just plant straight up outside and with good results?

What about the old-school growers and people in the Emerald Triangle? They don't have indoor setups and I see a lot of them starting there plants outside with or without a green house. And some outdoor growers just don't mess with any other lights, so how do they do it properly outside?

I have an inside tent of course, but it's not that big, so I don't have the space to start Outdoor plants AND grow my inside Autos too. I have all sorts of places to grow outdoors and already have several holes dug and some filled with cooking mix. I understand some mixes, including mine, may be too hot to start and germinate seeds into, but I could always scoop a section out and fill with something to start in like Plain Promix.

So let's have it Outdoor growers! How much success will I have planting straight outside?

This has been going on for years and years with no artificial light for people to start with...So what's the deal? I just don't see a lot if any starting straight outside...What's the trick if any?

Thanks a lot guys!

A friend of mine popped packet of 10 last year and decided to put them out doors. The birds came down and ate them. I had some mice get into my tent and they chewed the cotyledons off leaving just the stalks, lost the lot.

When is your last frost? you need to figure that out for sure and plant after that. I'd build a cold frame in my backyard and start them in that, then transplant to the guerilla spots. I think this would give you the best chance If you don't want to do them inside. You could also start them inside and grow them for 2 weeks inside to keep the size down, then into the cold frame, or into your guerilla spots.

I'd atlest germ them at home with some seaweed extract and let them get a good 1" root at lest on it. Some ppl put 2-3 seeds per hole then kill the weakest ones.

Piss jugs are good for pests. I piss in jugs now all the way intill end of may and save it outside. then i mix it with eggs and cyanne pepper and spray my sites with it.

Worked good last year no pest bothered my plants.:D

Last summer I sprouted seeds in pucks then put them directly outside in 32oz yogurt containers. Got a fair bit off of them, worked just fine.

I would but I like to get a head start. You also have to plant more if outside due to loss. Nature is a bitch :)

I would just now be planting out side with seeds. Instead I have several 2 foot plants already growing out side.

Thanks guy! I am pretty certain we're done with our frosts down here. :D The insects and mammals that eat plants I can handle for the most part...Weekly insecticide sprays and Liquid Fence for the animals. :check:

Mice in the tent? Damn...Never had that. I live in the damn sticks though and animals and insects are a'plenty I tell ya.

Don't really need a cold-frame. I am in the process/planning stage of a small greenhouse. Something cheap and doesn't have to be permanent. Sturdy enough to last this season at the least. I'll take ideas on cheap, easy hoop houses too. I have the basics though. PVC, wood, screws and the plastic covering stuff. Anyways...don't have that now so irrelevant. :D

I am concerned about the rain, though. It's been raining a lot around here and I'm sure small plants probably couldn't handle that. So I'll just have to stay on top of the weather and plant appropriately.

I can at least sprout them indoors in pucks or just small cups of Promix. Don't know if you guys have seen my tent in my updates, but it's packed in there. No more space to grow any out right now. All the Photos in there still have about 2 weeks left before going outdoors. :D
I have several different spots, because I know some stuff won't make it or produce as well as other plants/locations. And they will be Autos for the most part for quickness...personal here. :D

@Piggy- You grew them all the way out in the 32oz containers? If so, how much were you getting? I'll be going in the ground, but I'm just curious. :D
Growing in containers out here is too damn obvious I think. If my in-laws didn't pop in all the damn time I could have them in my damn yard off to the side. Only person that knows the house is back here is the meter checker dude that comes once a month. :D Tiny town, large county with tons of dirt roads if ya follow. I bet he could care less if he saw some plants. Not doing that, but still.

Thanks for the input everyone, keep it coming! :smokebuds:
