I'm just about finished up with my first auto grow (you can see some pics I posted in the Intro section here) and I am really excited for Round 2. However, the wife evicted me from my existing grow space, which was in our garden tub in our master bathroom. So, I'm moving into the shower/tub in another bathroom in the house and want to improve my setup in the process. Here's a pic to start:
Overall, the bathroom is 8' x 5'. I'll be using the shower/tub for my grow, which is 55" x 28" (about 11 sqft). I've got 250w MH/HPS and 400w MH/HPS lights, which I hung in there last night. I ran both lights overnight in there (HPS bulbs) without any ventilation other than the house's A/C system (the heat is on in the house at 68F) and the temps were at about 79F. I do have a tower fan that I also plan to put into the room.
I have a few questions which are somewhat interrelated that I hope someone can help me with. To me, the first problem that I'm seeing is cycling the air. I think I can use an exhaust fan/scrubber connected into the existing bathroom vent pipe (vents out a tall roof on the third floor). But I feel like intake might be a problem. The bathroom is off of an unused room that I can keep locked/sealed. Would keeping the door partially open provide enough intake?
My next question is regarding using some kind of reflective material on the walls. Right now the walls are an off-white plastic shower/tub enclosure. Would that provide enough reflectivity or should I consider something like mylar? If I go mylar, would that increase the temps enough that I would need to worry about AC for the room?
My last question is about trying to get a perpetual grow going. Would I run into any issues having 2/3 adults on one side of the tub under the 400w HPS and vegging the next generation right next to them under the 250w MH? Or should I just stick with all HPS?
