New Grower "GodAmJT's Perpetual Greenery"

I'll be damned if this plant doesn't want to keep testing my patience.....

Had to take a big ole chunk off of her last night due to what I presumed to be bud rot.. Sure enough, I cut away the affected sections, and there was a nice layer of black fuzzy mold on the stalk, and I lost probably a 1/4oz (estimated) bud.. It weighed about 1oz wet, but that included a fan leaf or 2.. Not to mention I've got fungus gnats now.. At first I thought when I saw one, it was a fruit fly, until I tapped the side of the airpot and a bunch of his buddies came out.. I ordered some stuff to take care of the colony, but I picked up some pest strips to put in the tent for the time being..

Right now though.......

I've got the AKR has shown sex and is slowly climbing.. From my understanding, they get a big-nasty growth spurt soon, so I was hoping this Zambeza would just finish so I can be done with it, and then I can cull the heard a little since I popped 2 MoC White Widow autos, and one of them is growing like gangbusters, but the other is kinda, meh.. I thought about taking everything out of my tent next weekend and scrubbing everything down, thoroughly cleaning my res and equipment just so I can provide the best environment for these next few plants.. We'll see, I suppose..

Shame about the bud rot ... darned nice looking frost on that plant ... :Hookah:

Thanks Chester!!! I seriously think between adding the Liquid KoolBloom to the mix and possibly the strain being a Jack Herer, the frostiness will be tough to match on my next grows.. I'm hoping the AKR and the WWs have similar turnouts but we'll see!! I just emailed MoC about the suggested EC for the WWs with my setup, so we'll see if I can run them both off the same res, or if I need to formulate a different approach and maybe use slightly smaller tubs to facilitate growing both in there with different ECs/ppms. The AKR started forming a tri-head, so I broke my LST cherry today.. I'll get a picture tomorrow, since the thing is literally growing a bit everyday.. From about a dozen journals of AKR grows, almost all of them were soil, however they all had a similar sentiment that they kinda chill out for the first 3-4 weeks, and then explode with growth, so I'm nearing that growth-explosion.. I was hoping to get the LST set now, so that once it starts to climb, it'll just be 3 towering colas.. Of the 2 WWs, I'm sorta tempted to toss the weaker one, but I'm trying to give it another week before I do so, because it's only come out with it's 2nd set of leaves, while the other one is working on its 3rd and is nearly twice as big.. ppms are at 160-ish for the AKR @ a pH of 5.9-ish and the WWs are at a lower ppms of ~80-ish at the same pH.. I will also note that the stronger WW has a CRAZY amount of root development that has started shooting out of the bottom of the rockwool so it'll probably get thrown into a small pot tomorrow to help gain some vertical growth, and I want to start LSTing the WW ASAP since it was mentioned to me that this breed is a little more Sativa-like, and I want to keep it lower..

I'd only toss it if you need the space ... runts often redeem themselves by harvest ... :Sharing One:

Although I fully agree with you, as I'm not someone who gives up on anything easily, ESPECIALLY something I've put a lot of effort into, my style of growing requires that I have each plant attached to a feed pump that resides in the reservoir.. Although, now as I was typing that, I just realized I could get a stronger pump and just split the main hose into 3 different feed halos.. I just wish I had gone with the 2'x4' tent now, because then I'd have all sorts of room!!! lol When I move to my new place in a couple months, I had already told my gf that I don't give a shit what the place looks like, where it's at or if we even have separate rooms; I just need about an 8'x8' space for my grow projects, and she can do whatever the hell she wants with the rest of the place!! :) That way, I can set up my separate veg/germ area and have a nice, hearty flower spot..

Don't get me wrong, I'm an auto grower for life, but I would absolutely love to try my hand at growing a 1lb-er photo plant!! :)

How's the BM from your last experiment?! Even with the temps and such, did the bud still come out stellar?! :)

I'm not a good judge of effect ... the BM just passed 1 month from harvest so I really haven't tried it yet ... I picked out a few of the best buds then gave the rest, a well filled 1/2 gal jar to my friend in NY. I'll get a chance to taste it soon ... surprisingly it has not come around on smell quite yet. The buds were dense when I picked them but became airy a few days later ... they are frosty and I hope to get some input from my friend and his smoking buddies ... I have nothing against airy buds. As long as it's frosty airy buds smoke just fine and can be easier to break up. Perhaps you could transplant the runt into dirt and let it sit in a corner of your grow.

I swear you just read my mind!!! lol I have a bag of FFOF and a bag of some compost that I bought on a whim from my local hydro store in lieu of using a known tea recipe and I haven't used it at all.. I was thinking of making a small batch of soil for a grow and throwing something in it to see if I can get some comparisons between the hydro and soil grows, regardless if I get a pheno difference with the seeds I have..

I doubt you are off with the taste/smell as I bet it will just take an extra bit to get the smell and flavor in there.. From my understanding, heat can definitely make buds airy, so it's possible that could be why you're seeing your BM like that, but it looked pretty damn good from the pictures!!! Honestly, I just want the Zambeza to finish so I can focus on my next grow with 100% attention because I feel like this learning lesson has proven more than one thing and I just want to have some meds to use over the next month or 2 so I don't have to go back to the local market.. I'm excited to see your next grow, so I'm hoping it's soon!! :)

I got an ABM that just broke ground over night ... I'll post a photo once it's big enough to see ... like most times when I plant here in NY I need to turn this thing into a bush before I leave at the end of the month ... the 3 gal pot is sitting on a heating pad and I'll be adding 1/2 a Nirvana Soil tab at about 10 days. Gonna be a fast, fun ride .... My next personal grow starts 11/1 and will be my best ever; featuring air pots and 600 watts of LED goodness along w/ Nirvana Soil and Flower tabs ...

Damn!! 600w?!? You used less than half of that on the last one!!!!!!!!!!!! That's gonna be a HUGE PLANT!!!!!!!!! I'm now intrigued more by the use of a single feeding method like the soil tabs that you use, since this morning, res change and making up nute solutions for the different plants took nearly an hour and a half, mostly because I have to use the 1gal jugs until I get a new water delivery, so about 20min of that time was the clean up.. That, and I think I'm going to see about getting some BM seeds because I always loved the taste but it's rarely around when I've gone out looking for it.. And with you demonstrating the abuse it can take and still come out bad ass, I'd say I'm sold there, too!! I'm hoping to try my hand at an outdoor grow next year, which is obviously going to be a soil grow, so I was planning on trying to get a little experience with soil before then, so it's not such a steep learning curve, especially in a much more austere environment..

So while I was doing the res change this morning, I inspected the area that had the bud rot and low and behold, more of the main cola had some, so I had to chop off a couple more nugs.. If this keeps happening, I'm gonna lose that whole main cola, and I still think it has another week or 2 before the top is matured enough to cut down.. Some of the bottom buds are still heavy with white pistils, so if I can keep the mold away long enough, I should be able to salvage a good portion of the plant..

Side by side pictures of before and after the bud rot devastation.
