I'd like to go organic for the first grow of 2019 in the new year, (and maybe journal it). I want it it be as simple as possible so looking at the biotabs range in autopots using tapwater. Followed some of the biotabs grows on here which have been really informative. I have a few items in stock already and my tap water is around 300ppm and not had any calmag problems with previous grows in soil or coco (I need calmag additions with RO water).

Thinking substrate mix will be 30% Plagron light mix, 30% Plagron coco, 20% GS2 growstones 20% Plagron mega-worm, ecothrive charge mixed through at correct ratio. I usually throw a layer of GS1 in the bottom of the pot.

Looking at the bitotabs range I'll use their tabs (2 per pot), boom boom spray and PK 5-8 and comparing with what I've already got in stock, what can be used as an equivalent?

Startrex = ecothrive charge
Bactrex = ecothrive biosys
Orgatrex = ???
Mycotrex = Mykos
Silicum flash = Worm castings

What do you guys think?

if your using the full line of the Bio Tabs product(s) I would say just use as directed.I like to use an enhanced soil persoanlly but it'll be just fine IME. have used them quite a lot actually and still do matter of fact.lol
I reckon so, just stick to a starter kit to try it out and use what I've already got for the soil mix. :greenthumb:

Someone's been shopping :d5:

Now all I've got to do is figure out my soil mix and I'll be ready to grow :smoking:

Thinking now the soil could be 40% light mix soil, 10% coco, 10% malted barley, 20% GS2 growstones, 20% megaworm, plus the Biotabs additives.

Good deal man! I woukld try using a cpl different variations on the way the pots or soil is prepped.the grow stones you might wanna hold off on for atleast one IMO.other than that,happy harvesting!

Why hold off on the growstones, I've used them on every grow for the last 3 grows? I use instead of perlite. Reading further on the use of malted barley, seems up to around 5% is about right and I've always got some in stock being a homebrewer :joy:

well IME they can tend to lessen the available foods because they take up more room.soil is food for plants.more soil with say pumice stone or perlite is ideally a better move IMO.but if you like them go for it. its just in smaller pots they can sometimes limit things if the strain is an aggressive rooter and/or a heavy feeder is all.either way will be fine just know the possible effects is could have eventually is all.

I hear what you are saying, but if perlite or similar is providing more oxygen to the root zone and more oxygen = healthier plants, then there has to be a trade-off somewhere, pot size is about 16litres and it'll be in smart pots. I do wonder if there is such a big difference using aeration though, next run will be multi-strain so won't be comparing apples with apples but I have a same strain run planned for later in 2019 so might do a soil comparo then.

well I wouldnt say its MORE O2 necessarily.but its more of an even distribution of the Air and even drying. they are larger stones or they really small?I have only used them a few times.Im not immensely familiar with them but I have seen and heard of issues here n there.Thats all.Use them broseph.Not trying to dissuade you from not using them,just passing on some tips is all.Happy sprouting buddy!

but all pots its about even feeding,even distributions of materials and moisture,life and easy root movement.Just make sure they are not under the sproutling when popping your seed. other than that enjoy the Tabs man.I like them. you across the pond bud? might wanna look at KIS organic or Build a Soil Coots mix or similar from them for future grows.Stellar mixes.The tabs are excellent too just can require a little bit more work.I grow with thee least effort.half the time I literally water only.I dont do nadda typically cuz i am a lazy old grower.LOL and KIS and biotabs work exceedingly well together BTW :D enjoy buddy!
