Alright folks,

I was wondering if you could settle a ponderance for me. Being a tightwad I usually grow my canna under an HPS from start to finish, never a problem. Recently I've been putting other plants under there, namely Basil & Corriander & other greens.

I have found that these normally really green plants are of quite a lighter colour when growing under the HPS by themselves, and only when I put them outside do they really start to green up again.

Is this because I would normally need more Blue in the lighting to count towards the chlorophyll creation? Or what do you think? I assume a dual spec would do but looking at opinions.

The plants are all fine otherwise & growing well, they are just much lighter in colour.

What's your light distance? 600w?

It's only a 250w HPS, but should be more than enough.

With further investigation, I'm pretty sure I'm correct. I'll either need to invest in a dual spec bulb, or go with LEDs to get the coverage I want.

M8 if your in the budget range for an LED then I'd recommend the solar flares from LED Hydroponics without a 2nd thought.. Muddys a great guy to deal with and very grower friendly.. those wee boards are £105 I think on his site and I'm sure he'd do a bit of AFN discount on 2.. which will easily match your 250w hps and imo better it.. with a lot less leccy.. I grew hps before I went led.. I still have a 600w variable ballast so she does 250/400/600/660.. u know the type I'm sure.. something to think about if you git the LED market. Tell Muddy Hope sent ya if you like anything he has there.. he's an authorised seller on AFN :cooldance::jointman:

I have 3 of them up at the min m8.. unbeatable results for the money.. and like I say.. muddys always keen to strike a deal :cooldance: a true growers friend.
is it muddy from off here if so I remember him from a few years ago

Hes on here as an official AFN vendor m8 but there's 2 muddys lol I think its the other Muddy you're thinking of.. muddy the grower.. he's a different geezer.

Cheers for the clarity on the Muddies & the heads-up on the LED. UK base as well, always good for me.
