Is this thread going to survive the move to the new site?
I have looked through the Web site top level pages, Featured entries, etc. and can't find any threads or information about moving to a new site, just discussions about software. Where is this information posted? [There must be others also clueless about what's happening. Information should be prominently posted].
I received a DM Feb 1st telling me what was going on and a link. The link goes to the thread thats on the main page. In that thread a few sections down is the suggested timeline that lays everything out. I havent read much of it myself so not sure if thats the info youre looking for.

The forum software currently powering our community is called XenForo. Prior to that, the forum originally operated for about the 1st 5 years on vBulletin, and we migrated to XenForo around 2015. That timeframe aligns with the earliest records I can find discussing the transition (I was involved in that migration.)
At the time, XenForo held a significant share of the forum software market and represented a meaningful step forward in terms of features, performance...
This site and all the threads will disappear as far as I can tell.
The cost to migrate everything was over $6k. Unfortunately a lot will be lost. The software is so different you can't simply cut and paste the old threads over. There is a way to download the thread in its entirety and read it offline.
If you can figure it out there is a program called HTTRACK that allows you to do so. I've saved two massive threads so far but reloading and reposting them is another thing.
So if you want to save a particular thread, try HTTRACK.
ChatGPT also does a good job of downloading and converting a thread to a text file. You lose all the images but keep the text.
