Hello all!

Technically - this is my second grow (though my first has yet to finish - so interpret it's numerical value as you will!) - and I'm looking forward to using what I've learned from this site, going forward with it!
IMG_8986.jpg

I soaked the seed for 24 hours - at which point it cracked and sank - dropped it onto damp paper towel (in a lock-n-lock set upon my router) until it had a respectable tap root - and finally transferred her to a peat pellet.

IMG_8984.jpg

Its been in the pellet for 24 hours - and has already broken ground, shed it's case and started unfolding towards the light (which all happened much more quickly than the Berry Ryder seed I started for my first grow!).

IMG_8998.jpg

I'll give it a few more days - then she'll be dug into her home.

I mixed up a batch of organic soil for the growing medium:

1/3 peat
1/3 organic worm castings
1/3 perelite

To which I added a little organic blood/bone meal, organic tomato fert meal, neem meal and alfalfa meal - dolomite lime and organic glacial rock dust.

I dampened the mixture down with an EWC/molasses tea - and let it "cook" for a month - stirring occasionally.

I filled a good sized pot (not exactly sure what it's volume is) and ran a liter of water through it - in at 6.8 and out at 6.1.
I added a little more dolomite lime, mixed well, let sit - and ran another L through this morning - in at 6.7 - out at 6.3.

I'm happy with that - but am wondering if anyone might have some guidance on that?

Anyway - thanks for stopping in and having a look. There will be necessary time gaps in my updates, as my working shifts are three weeks away from home - but I'll certainly update as I can!

1-10-1
Summn like that Sunleaves hasgreat prices for 2 lb bags

Please forgive my ignorance of terminology (I'm not at all familiar with growing plants in any shape or form - this is a definite learning curve for me!) - but do you mean a high phosphate bat guano?

Should this be mixed in to my soil (it won't have a chance to cook with the other admentdments, unfortunately) - or could it be given as a tea? Is it given in the veg or bloom phase - or both?

I apologise for all the questions - this really is pretty new to me.

I'll check my local hydro store - as they seemed pretty well stocked, when I dropped by there - for soil mediums as well as hydro.

My plan was to feed with General Organics Bio Bud and Ca-Mg+, but only after she showed signs of being hungry.

Thanks again for the in-put, SM!

Nice one - some interesting reading in those links - its given me a few ideas for the next round.

I picked up the current recipe I have in the pot, from another site - in an "Easy Organic Soil Mix For Beginners" thread - which describes me to a T!

All the ingredients were available locally - except the kelp meal (it was sold out when I started the soil cooking) - but I added a little diluted organic kelp concentrate to make up the difference.

The thread labelled the recipe as pretty much what was needed to get through to bloom, without needing to add nutrients, and as I wanted to keep it as simple as possible - but still go organic - I thought I'd give this mix a try.

The Wee Hobbit continues on her journey, and she has transitioned to her home-pot. Today is Day 8 AG - I lowered the light to 10''-12'' (temps are still good) - and she seems to have slowed her upward growth and is spending her time enlarging her leaves - and I'm guessing, sending her tap root down.

DAY 8
IMG_9026.jpg

IMG_9027.jpg

I dropped her in, 2/3'rds of the way down the pot to give room for the LST she will receive as she grows (beginning, as I did my Berry Ryder - when she reaches her fourth set of leaves).

I wouldn't have a hand in a grow, unless there was an issue, though (as anyone that has looked in on the Berry Ryder grow can attest! - https://www.autoflower.org/f44/auto-seeds-berry-ryder-late-flowering-23809.html ).

I ran PH'ed water through this lady's organic soil mixture before planting her - to get an idea of runoff PH - but it was still pretty damp when she was planted. Yesterday, I killed a few adult Fungus Gnats that were fumbling around on the soils surface.

I top-dressed with a little more neem meal - and worked it into the top three inches of soil. Today, I only found one adult in the room - and no sign of larvae. The soil continues to dry out nicely - and I'm hoping this will nip it in the bud - but I have a bottle of 3% HP on stand-by, just in case.

My desire to appease the hunter-gatherer part of my coding had me out with the dogs in the bush, this morning - searching out the "Golden Bounty". Its an early year for their fruiting, this year - and the picking was good - a decent basketful in a few hours. Boeuf Bourguignon with a healthy addition of Chanterelle mushrooms - is bubbling in the slow cooker as I write this!

@ Guerrilla
I have a Hobbit growing outdoors...over 31", in mid-bud stage, started 7/30. Probably another 3+- weeks to finish her. I don't see where 65 days to finish is correct. Don't let the strain name (hobbit) fool you!! I was expecting around 18-20". Happy with the results thus far, very sativa like in growing, bud structure more indica. Used my own soilless mix, adding bone/blood meal into perlite, sand & bag of sifted manure so I don't get the 'forest" of wood material mixed in.

Look forward to hearing your journey. I've always loved Kannabia genetics!! First rate! The Mataro` Automatica took much longer to finish....I think maturity days listed on package or description are far too short. You be your own judge.

Awesome, AB - sounds like a beauty!

Any pictures, perchance? I'm intrigued by your soilless mix - does it require much in the way of added nutes? It sounds as though your Hobbit is enjoying her time in your sun.
I'll look forward to hearing how it finishes out for you - please feel free to post it into this thread, if you feel like sharing, AB. Thank you for the heads-up on the timing, as well - I won't look for it to finish quickly, then.

This one has her roots into my organic mix - and she seems to be enjoying it (and no sign of any gnats - the drying soil and added Neem seem to have done the trick)!

I took your advice, Swampman - and checked my local Hydro store for some "high P poops" - which they had and which I purchased.
I believe its 1-12-1 - and I mixed a bit into the top couple of inches of soil in this Hobbit's pot (and added a few TBLS to a new batch of organic mix I set to cooking, a few days ago).

Yesterday, I put the first bend into her. Its a little earlier than I would have liked - but I left for three weeks at work, today - and needs must when the devil drives!

IMG_9103.jpg

I checked her this morning - and found she had turned her head back up to the light. She'll continue to be trained at a slight angle from the soil surface, until she reaches the far end of the pot - when I'll turn the growing tip around the edge of the pot until she stops stretching.

Hobbit is a gorgeous plant!!! Silvery green and loaded w/ resin. Have her in the closet now, a few days of darkness before the impending cut. She topped out at 36". Amazing. Bud structure could have been better (heftier), but it's on my end, only partial direct sunlight for about 6-7 hrs daily, then indirect sunlight. Didn't want to chase the sun lifting/carrying the bucket (5 gallon). Other autos I can do that because they are in 2 gallon buckets.

To answer your question regarding soiless mix, I use both blood/bone meal, sometimes dried kelp mixed in w/ 2 parts sand, one part perlite, 1 part manure...if manure purchased, I screen it as it looks like cows pooped a forest for all the wood material mixed in. If I get it from a farm, I bake it for about 10 minutes in a galvanized tub over a fire pit. I also mix in some Epsom salts for magnesium and make compost tea (lawn grass clippings, coffee grounds, egg shells, veggie discards ...carrot and beet tops and manure) in 5-10 gallons of water using mixture for every 2-3 waterings. SUPERTHRIVE, I usually use most of growing/blooming stage weaning off the last 2-3 weeks, only water. Black Strap molasses is made from unrefined beets sugar so find beet tops, aside from in salads, a good tonic in compost tea. Summer only....

I'll take a few pics to show you, posting in the coming days.

Kannabia Hobbit

Here she is, 36". When I took the outdoor pic, that was a few weeks ago. Don't have extended lens to show trichomes up close and personal. Crossed her wanting to achieve the white traits and uber powerful smoke, central cola for SOG grows. Heavy resin, sweet smelling!

btw...autoflowernet shows me as "novice"......hardly. Been a serious (pro) breeder of autos for over 4 yrs, (sending dear departed Nelson a few strains for his indoor grow) and a grower for 30 yrs hybridizing, auto grower >5 yrs.

Hoping your grow is similar!!:yay:You selected a nice Kannabia choice!!

They have some great strains. Used Kann. White Domina x Ogre...outstanding hybrid.

Grow on Gurreilla!!
