Harvest & Curing Hang dry in large cardboard box???

Hey guys, ive got an area in my grow room im gonna put a 2x2x4 cardboard box to hang and dry my harvests in. I really dont have any other options right now.

Anyways, wondering if i should cycle air through it, like have a pc fan at the top blowing in, and one at the bottom pulling out?

Or close the box, cut no holes in it for fans, and have a fan blowing down and one blowing up.

Or any other suggestions??

How did this work out for you? I’m thinking I may have to do the same thing to maintain temp and humidity while drying. Outside of the tent is too cold and too dry, I would have little to no control over the climate outside of the tent. My only other issue is that I will still have plants growing as they won’t all be harvested st the same time.

It worked out good. I cut 1 hole in the top center for a PC fan, and had the two smaller hole on the bottom at opposite sides.

The first day I ran the fan for 3 hours on half hour off. Using a standard analog lamp timer.

The second day about Midway through the day I changed it to three hours off and 30 minutes on.

I want to say I went for another day like that.

After that I shut the fan off and cover the hole on the top with a piece of cardboard.

I think it was day five or six I pulled it all out of the cardboard box and laid a flat together in a Rubbermaid container which I closed up. The branches were bendy, not snappy, but the outside of the buds felt super crunchy dry. But once in a Rubbermaid container humidity started climbing back up again.

I ended up coming back and loosening the Rubbermaid lid a little bit here and there to keep the humidity below 70-75 until it got down around 65% humidity and then I jarred everything.

Jars are running between 63 and 64% right now.

I highly suggest getting a four pack of those mini hygrometers off Amazon or Ebay. I had one hanging close to the top in the Box, I had one hanging down in the middle of the buds, and one down at the bottom to give me an average of what the humidity in there was. I also used them in the Rubbermaid tote, and now I have them in the jars.

I think the drying and curng is going to be different for everybody every time. And you just need to figure out which humidity range at which point you need to keep things in and adjust things as you need to from there.

So long as you don't have any mold or anything else bad like that happen it doesn't matter how long it takes to dry and cure.

But as someone who's new to this I felt that doing it in a cardboard box made it a little bit more idiot proof.

I have always used large cardboard boxes to dry my buds! It's a great and easy way to dry.
Just punch holes in 2 sides and run some string zig-zagging in the box and hang buds.
I never use a fan, just close the top as the RH here is around 45% and I want a nice slow dry.

Then into jars with hygrometers just like you.
Works great and is nice and simple!

I was told about this technique from an old grower on a forum 10+ years ago, it does not exist anymore unfortunately...

For my next grow I am going to try the brown paper bag method and see if it is any easier.
