Hanging light with low headroom

How are you guys hanging your lights with low headroom, those metal ones that come with the light are wayyyy to long for my space. Im trying to think of a good way to do this.

1/8" Rope ratchet light hangars are pretty standard and cheap.

or half again

or do away with them
