I generally don't plan my harvest day very carefully. I've been known to harvest mid day / late evening / and before the lights come on ... my preferred time is before the lights come on and after they have been off for 4-6 hrs ... I've read where many cut the bush down before lights on and work w/ the plant no longer attached to the soil ... that is what I would do if I had the space to hang the plants whole but I need to separate them into branches for hanging so I've always left the plant attached to the pot while I cut it down branch by branch ...

My question is ... Do you think it makes a difference if prior to lights coming on the first cut severs the bush from the pot, thus cutting off any transporting of nutrients from the roots ... or if, like I've done in the past, the bush is left attached to the ground as the branches are cut from it and of course there would be light on the plant ...

Harvesting tomorrow at 9am after lights have been out for 5 hrs ... so I'd appreciate any input I can get before then ... :eyebrows:

I always plan 48 hrs dark in my cabinet and cut my branches off too, then i hang all the branches on 4 ft. 1/8 alum. rods in my work area. Then i go about trimming them all.
My last grow i cut most of the branches off and it still took off growing so i would think nutes would still flow until the main stalk itself is cut.
Basicly i cut all branches off the size i need to hang them, then the main stalk all at once.
just the way i do it plus the week or so flush.
your more experenced than i my friend but you asked ?
Also if flushed good what would it matter, she will just get water but then i dont do soil.
Hope im not out of line here, just my input.

I've read plenty of threads about this debate and its a matter of choice...I've done the whole plant from the base in darkness and also with lights on and did not notice any differences in the end product. To me the drying part is the most important.

When I cant be bothered, and depending on local humidity, I will chop the plant from the base and leave the whole plant (after removing the fan leaves and anything else protruding) hanging to dry for 10-14 days (in my grow cabinet) , then pluck off remaining leaves, into paper bags for 2-4 days, then jar (If the humidity is high, I will cut iindividual branches as above). As I live in a building with neighbours above, below and side to side, I find that this method also reduces the smell of freshly trimmed weed which can result in unwanted attention.

For some reason, I now find the taste and effect is so much better when i trim the plant after its been hanging for 10-14 days. Just keep an eye on mould etc and ensure a nice gentle air flow (but not on the plant).

Whatever you do at least your near the end of a long road with rewards awaiting

i basically do it the same as oldcoot.
-pretty dry medium
-lights off for 48 hrs
-chop at the base/take off branches
all in the name of delicious and irresistible smoke
:smoking:

Yep, i used to hang the whole plant too but had to come up with a different way, due to the odor.
So i tryed the way eyes on fire does it and it definitely reduces the surronding smell.
I chop all branches then do a complete trim and cut all buds off the branches and immediately bag them.
Works great

Thanks for the input y'all ... I recently hung a whole plant and loved the results but I don't have the space to do it so chopping it up is my only choice ... I think I'll cut it into branches but leave them w/ a little extra green to help slow down the drying since my grow space is 50% rh ... I think I'll keep one in the dark until the first is chopped up and since I'll be delaying the trim taking the first one down will only be a matter of minutes as will the other one ... as mentioned above as long as I've done a good flush, and I have, there really shouldn't be anything to worry about at the roots ...

Thanks again y'all ... I'll post pics tomorrow on my NLBB / Bubblelicious grow ... :d5:
