Just once I have had one little branch like that but just under the surface of the dirt. It had male and female (hermie)parts on it and this was a fem pineapple express auto. There is a photo here https://www.autoflower.org/f5/yikes-lol-14020.html

The rest of the plant was fine. No seeds or any other funny stuff.
