In case you didn't notice, I like to rhyme, lol.
The setup:
24w LED strip 6400k
2'x2'x30" nursery tent
Stropharia Rugosoannulata fruiting blocks for CO2 enrichment
Coco coir and vermiculite in 3" cell pots
GH 3-part Flora Series nutrients with RapidStart, FloraBlend, and SLF-100 enzymes
The Gene Pool:
This run I'm looking for a keeper mom from some Hazeman genetics I got in a big sale a few months back from DC Seed Exchange. I'm going to grow these seeds out, take preservation cuts ASAP, then sex the plants to cull males. Once I have confirmed females, I'm going to keep the mothers and give out all the clones to my grower buddies so we can figure out if anything should be turned into a bonsai mom and kept around long-term. Hazeman has some really good cuts he uses in his seed production, so hopefully out of these seeds we'll get at least one great female that we enjoy keeping around long-term.
White Grapes (purple pots) - This is a cross between the Aloha White Widow male he uses all the time with a Grape Stomper cut. According to the strain description on DCSE it's more of an Aloha White Widow backcross using Grape Stomper as a female.
Bubba Kush x Stardawg (3 of the green pots) - Hazeman's BK is known to be a very strong breeding female and a great representation of the varietal. This cross should bring out the best of bubba with the tastes and smells of some chem.
Urban Poison (red pots) - Green Crack x Durban Poison; I have high hopes for this strain (pun intended). I have wanted to grow with both GC and DP genetics for a while, so lucking into a cross of the two is AWESOME. I know both strains tend to have some drama around provenance because they're not known anymore as either pure clone-only or landrace, but excited to see how the smoke turns out compared to the more indica strains I'm also growing.
Putang (2 green pots in rear) by Mass Medical Seeds - I've had these sitting around for a while and decided to throw two into this grow as "fem insurance." The last 2 times I tried to grow this strain really pissed me off, I'm kind of 'over' Mass Medical because I don't think they're reputable breeders. The first fem bean I popped (at the low low cost of $17 per seed) sprouted and then withered and died before growing its first true leaves; 7 other seeds germed correctly and grew fine next to this one, so it wasn't me. The second time I got to 6 nodes and topped her to try to do a mainline. When I switched to 12/12, she was the first to show sex of 6 plants by throwing pure hermaphrodite flowers; they were calyxes right next to pollen sacks, at basically every single node site. Total bummer. Hoping for something that makes it through flower this time.
So for now, my goal is to just veg out some happy little seedlings and get some clones to share with friends. I won't be able to flower any of these until mid-July due to my schedule, so for now I just wanted to keep notes and document the pheno hunt so I can keep track of everything as we approach decision time on a keeper. Once I outgrow the nursery tent I'll move things into my 2x2x5' but it's being used as my drying tent right now for some Hazeman Blood Rose and BOG Sour Strawberry Kush I just harvested.
