Hi all , just stumbled across this site last night. I plan on hopefully starting my first grow in the next couple of weeks. I would like to grow maybe 6 - 8 plants at a given time. I wouldn't have a huge budget to get started with , being realistic I could probably invest about €500 at this time. Hopefully you guys here could guide me in the right direction to picking out some sort of setup that would fall under that budget, or if that's a bit unrealistic I guess I can just start picking up whatever I can for now. To get me started , could someone recommend what size grown tent I would be wanting for , say 6 plants? Also, is it really necessary to get different lighting kits for different stages of growth, or would I get away with running just 1 or 2 600W HP lights for my 6-8 plants? With a bit of luck I'll be sharing my first grow experience soon. Cheers

Welcome to afn, we have a ton of different threads on lighting. Im not a hps guy so i cant help you there. @budelee any thoughts on the light ?

Well, that depends on growing style, doesn't it? It he wants to grow monsters he'll need a 4x8 or something similarly large, but if he's aiming for a SOG he won't need anything that big. You could run 6-8 plants in a 4x4 no sweat if you wanted to.

8 plants will fit in a 4x4 but with any size watering becomes a problem, plants dont get as much air circulation in bloom. It does depend on the style.

have an end goal in mind of how much time space and money will be you total investment.. also be realistic about how much time you can dedicate to it. 1 600 watt HPS lamp would take 6 plants start to finish, although a metal halide would be a better iption for veg( get a ballasr that will run either lamp). I dont use HID anymore but i sure do miss it in the winter.. many people open grow withoit a tent,(its an option)(i have two areas and no tents

Hi bro, yes a lot depends on what/how his style is, again, a good plan should be put in place and an overall " idea" of the lamp, media,nutes..etc...This will help keep from spending money on things that are not needed.. most of us start on a budget, and many of us have wasted money on things we didnt need, i would suggest a ppm meter( hanna model 30$) and a pH pen( dont skimp here, bluelab 95$).. cruise a few journals and find some members who are growing the way you wanna grow( as in equipment and style)... good luck and use the @ symbol to tag anybody in if you have questions!!!

My boy gave me this weed that straight up smells like a bakery. Smells like some fruity muffins or something and it taste and burns so well I'm so amazed by this smoke.

I look forward to sharing my story, and growing together with you @budelee awesome post thank you very much As for my growing style , I guess I wouldn't know for sure until I've tried a few times what suits me best. Equipment is really expensive and a bit difficult to source out in some parts here in Ireland , but I saw one company selling this budget starters kit including: LightHouse LITE 1.2m Tent, LUMii Compacta, LUMii SunBlaster, LUMii MAXii Reflector, LUMii Heavy Duty Timer, LUMii Rope Ratchets, RAM Filter, RAM Inline Duct Fan, RAM Ducting, RAM Variispeed. all for €390 . Does this seem like a good entry point to you guys or should I keep shopping around and buy everything separately?

Hi again..WOW,the kit you mention sounds awesome,and i would say its a great starting point that may continue to suit your needs. As long as it fits in your budget,I would say,go for it,..as far as the rest of the necessary items..There are many styles of pots,buckets,bags..same with media,soil,coco,soiless,hydro..make sure your nutes are correct for your media,there are some specific to hydro or coco..and check the grow characteristics of the plants you wanna grow,some are classified as small(in height or overall finish size),to XX large(and some autos do get very large you wouldnt want 6 of these in a 4x4 tent)
