Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself, Young. I don't usually join these online forums due to my concerns with privacy, however, I am attempting to finally complete my first successful grow. I hope with the help of my own thirst for knowledge and the generosity of this community I can make this possible.

A little insight on my grow. Soil is FFOF with 1:4 soil perlite ratio. No nutes yet. I got stoned the day I popped the bean and didn't record the date.. My educated guess...is that this baby is about 2.5 weeks. Anywhere from 14-18 days. She is an auto spanish diesel from shortstuff. I had a problem, may still have, with one leaf tip curling and turnin slightly brown. She is about 1.5" tall which would concern me except for the fact that she looks, IMO, mostly healthy. I have approximately 180 watts of CFL 6500k right now. Running 18-6 was on 24-0 for about a week and a half. Any responses are appreciated. Stop by and say hello! Offer some words of encouragement! Thanks!

PS I will try and get pictures up although Ive got to figure out how. LOL. I do realize that would be helpful. I am semi-noobish so general advice is welcome. My biggest concern right now is Nutes. ie. when to start, what to start on, etc...

Welcome bro! Need help just let us know.:Sharing One:

Welcome FETTI! She is a keeper for sure! If you need anything, let us know. Could be a bit of ph swing, FFOF has been know to be low on the ph side of things. I would certainly invest in an Accurate 8 soil probe. They may come off as a spendy piece of equipment, but any soil grower will get better results with one. Take a read on the ph of water going in and the runoff and post your results.

YNG its my experience that starting seedling in FF oF it will burn them a bit. they will grow out of it so its cool. I do it, but if you would rather use happy frog it would be better for babies.

Like Biman said do some home work on FF OF its some hot stuff for herbs..

Okay so here is where I am at.

Went to my local store. They sell BS so I just purchased a cheap ph meter. Cheap but it works well enough to tell me I have acidic soil. I think. Water going in measured at around 7.8-9 soil measured at about 5.8-9 wet and runoff was at or around 6.7-8? so slightly acidic maybe?

New veg growth is nice and green though. I'm starting to notice a couple more curled brown tips in order of when they sprouted. Should I even do anything or just leave her the way she is and keep it movin? I'm also guessing that nutes are out of the question at this point? Once again, I have NOT added any at this point yet.

Hey, Youngster, they look pretty good to me so far. Don't panic and don't over water. This should be fun, so don't fret too much. The odd leaf will always be a bit iffy (to use the technical phrase) but I don't know much about FF soil. I hear it can be a bit hot, so you may want to wait a week before giving any nitrogen feed.

Good luck chum, and welcome to AFN.

eP.

Welcome to AFN yng. Looks like a good start. Your pH does sound low. With 7.8 in and runoff of 6.7 would put the soil pH around 5.6 which will make some important nutes hard to assimilate. Get your pH up and start some 1/4 strength nutes would be my recommendation. Happy Growing
