Hello AFN…how goes it?
Well, I’ve read a few threads and the general consensus recommends all newbies stop by and introduce themselves so, here I am!
I am in the process of my first grow. I am confident that Ihave gone wrong just about every way one possibly could with this grow. I am growing the “Royal Dwarf” from Royal Queen Seeds and should be harvesting within the next 7-10 days. I chose this strain because of its limited height.
I started out with two plants but stressed one lovely lady to the point that she went hermaphrodite on me (roughly week 6, had to leave onChristmas holiday for 3 days- timers were set but temps got up to 33c/92f). The crazy thing is that when I returned from holiday, one plant had pollen everywhere but didn’t pollinate the other plant sitting 4 inches away from it while placed under the same fan. I lucked out!
I don’t want to write a novel here but I’ve read from other threads that people like as much detail about the grow as possible…I’ll try tokeep it condensed. What you should know is that: 1) I have very limited space, growing in a closet; 2) Have a very limited budget; 3) Want to try to grow as organically as possible. I had never really thought of growing MJ but I saw ashort video on FB about how autoflowers were easy to grow in small spaces. As easy as others made it out to be, I have realized there’s way more involved than throwing a seed in some soil, putting it away in a closet and letting the “auto”do its thing.
Temps/Humidity: with the exception of Christmas holiday, temps with lights on stay between 75f/23c-85f/29c. I try to keep the humidity between 20-30%.
Nutes: weeks 3-7 I used an organic fish emulsion (5-1-1) at every other watering @25% dilution. Weeks 7-present I use Foxfarm’s Tiger Bloom(2-8-4), every other watering @ 50% dilution. The last two waterings (no nutes), I have added unsulphered blackstrap molasses (1 tbsp/gallon) and will continue to do so until harvest. I have used only distilled water.
Lights: I’m using 43watt (actual wattage) CFLs…I have 4 overmy one plant. I’ve stayed on an 18/6 light cycle.
Initiated LST @ week 4.
I have learned A LOT through this grow. I am awaiting seeds of the same strain so that I can try again with a better knowledgebase. I don’twant to move on to another strain until I can grow this one right. The plant I have now was the runt between the original two that I started with…it’s crazy that she survived the stresses and my other plant didn’t.
In closing, she's just a bit shorter than the minimal indoor growing height for her strain but at this point, I'll be grateful for anything that she gives me.
Super stoked to be here! I welcome any and all advice/ help that you awesome growers have to offer!
Peace,
Lefty
