Lighting Help a brother out

I am running 6 MarsHydro/Topled lights.......and 2 GN's........for a tent 3'x3' I would get 4 lights in the 300-500w nominal range, say the 96 x 5w http://www.mars-hydro.com/reflector-led-grow-light-96-3w-100.html or similar. Smaller and more lights will give better coverage and much more flexibility with various scenarios, SCROG, SOG, uneven canopy height and so on. I would place one on each side, close to the walls and angle them towards the middle/center, initially at an 30 degree angle or so.

This is how I run my tents..........just

.....and I agree 100%, the touted coverage on the websites is way "generous"........do they actually grow canna in China them there Manufactures before they hit the marketing keyboards.....!

Great feedback fellas thank you very helpful... here's the deal... I didn't want to say anything at first because it wasn't for sure but I have now won a 1200w mars 2. It's totally free. I understand completely the objective of smaller but more panels. It's like when I used to run cfl and I could customize my lighting a lot more . So I guess now is the only concern to use the panel or sell it for some quick cash and continue using my mh/hps

Or just stay hps and have an led backup

dude! for free!?! use it Doc. 5w led's will give you good penetration. with a reflector model like I have with 3w led's iwould have been better served with 2 of the smaller one's. and if you don't like it I call dib's! lol. no, serious ,I call dibs ;)

Idk... Im new to growin but have done extensive research with the LEDs. For a 3x3 grow tent why would you need 3 lights. That seems like overkill! A 400 watt led has a veg footprint of 3 feet and a bloom footprint of 2 feet. So why would you need 6 feet of bud spectrum in a 3x3 foot space! I'm going with HydroSTAR /Sunspect 600 watt leds.. In a 4x4 grow tent.. . 2 of them. I prefer regular shaped vs the panels. Read so much info on that the panels really don't have the best footprints. Compared to the square shaped ones. Idk... Unless I'm not understanding this thread correctly.

My buddy has 6 of the HydroSTAR leds.. For his bloom room. In 7 months he has yet to have any fail. And his buds are ridiculous... Not sure on the warranty side. But 600 watts of power... 90 degree lens... 5w diodes so you will get better light penetration too than with the 3w. And for only 132 bucks. No setting for veg and bloom though. But I am sold. Mars and the Mars 2 are definitely good LEDs.. But there seems to be better on the market that's way less!

I'd suggest 2 or 3 700w's for more even coverage.
I run 3 900MII's and I would have gone with more smaller wattage units rather than fewer high power units.
Cost more that way but coverage would be insane.
First I would suggest reading Mars warranty and seeing if your comfortable with that before making a purchase.
Caveat Emptor
I wish they would make the 700 5 watt panels with reflector lenses. 2 of them would be perfect for my setup. I'm currently running 3 Mars 11 400's with very nice results. I agree that multiple lights work better.
