I am wondering what I should do I just bought a 75 pint dehumidifier and have a 8000 btu a/c but my a/c just stopped working for some reason.... When the a/c was running the dehum. hardly ran at all.....The dehum. is 7.5 amps 800 watts and the a/c is only 5 amps so my question is should I just buy a 10,000 btu a/c and run that alone? I don't want to dish out the cash right now for a new a/c but I just bought the $300.00 dehumidifier a couple days ago and can return it for an a/c if I need to. I am running 3 sealed 1000 watt raptor hoods that are cooled with outside air and they run cool enough so that the glass is cool to the touch. I am running co2 so it would be a window a/c like the one I got now. the room is about 10x8x8 sealed any and all feed back is wanted
I think my a/c might have just froze up, I can't see and ice but the fan wont turn at all. I am not sure but I wish I could have both running because I don't want to run an ac during lights off to remove moisture.
I am running at 55% in veg. and 78 degrees and not running a/c right now until it gets hot out I think ill be good....Most of my heat is the dehumidifier but I think I am good all the way up to 90+ because I am running supplemental Co2 at 1500-1700 ppm When the dehumidifier runs a lot it hits about 85 tops.....The air going through my hoods is very cold right now the glass right in front of the bulb is cold to the touch so my 600 watt MH is about 16 inches away from them. I just made a res. cooler for my next grow by taking apart a water cooler/dispenser like you would see in an office. I took the coil, condenser and thermostat out so the copper coil will be sitting in a res. to keep cool. I think it will work good but will have to wait until this fall to try it out then for winter the water dispenser had a mini heater in it too so I can use that part to heat the res. if need be...
I think some of it is my error just still trying to dial things in better and its a large dehumidifier... I am in and out a lot unfortunately wasting co2 but this is my first time indoors so I will get it with some patience and practice....when im in there I replace the co2 anyways lol it will climb from about 1500 to 1900 just from breathing in there for 10 min or so...
yeah my dehumidifier uses the same amount of power as my 1000 watt light when it comes on and off the light flicker in the house. That is because its 120 which I cant stand I wish it were 240 like my lights all 4 1000s can come on at the same time and not flicker the lights.....But this summer I will be changing my service from a 100 amp to a 200 amp with a larger panel etc. Right now the dehumidifier is run from my controller which is on its own 20 amp circuit then I have 2 15 amp circuits for blowers fans etc a 240 circuit for lights and installing another 240 for a large a/c this summer in the new room but my current panel is maxed out its only a 20 circuit so will be installing a 30 circuit 200 amp............ its a small plus being a master electrician being able to do your own wiring and know its safe not over loading anything.....I currently went to a friends house who is also a CG and he was running 3 1000 watts on a old panel that has the screw in fuses... he kept popping fuses almost every other day never checking wires etc... when I checked his wiring it was almost melted through.... It is scary to think there is 3 kids living in that house. It scared me so I went and got him a new panel replaced all wiring that I could get at and added new circuits for his grow... If you don't know what your doing with electrical you should not be putting in a grow like that or playing with the wiring...its different if you running 1 400 watt or a 250 but when going to and over 1000 that's when it puts a strain on wiring especially when there is other stuff running on the same circuit that you might now know about
