Basically to start off I have no idea what is the difference between soil mix and soilless mixes. I understand one is soil and the other is not but what I am asking is do soilless mixes have the nutes needed to grow the auto flower? I going to start my grow using roots organic. Is that to much or should I go with a soilless mix? As you can tell I don't know the difference.

Soil less mixes do not supply any nutrients. They are primarily just sphagnum peat moss, perlite and lime. Some also contain coco coir. When growing soil less it's up to the grower to supply all the nutrients that the plants need. Most soil mixes start with a similar base, peat and perlite, to which organic materials such as guano, composted manure or worm castings are added. These type mixes usually provide enough nutrients for the first 3-4 weeks of the grow, after which supplemental feeding is needed. Some auto strains are sensitive to "hot" soils when they are seedlings. A hot soil is one that contains high amounts of organic matter which can over feed young plants. Fox Farms Ocean Forest is a good example. Most who use it will mix it with something like FF Happy Frog to cut it and reduce the nutrient level. I've not used Roots Organic personally but many here have. It does contain organic materials. I would suggest doing a search and finding a few of those grows and take a look at how they have used it.
