Hi everyone. I am fairly new here. I am looking to purchase a LED that will fit inside my grow cabinet. The dimensions I am working with are 8"x16"x60" tall. I found the Vipraspectra 300w will fit with some clearance around the sides. Does anyone know of a 300w LED that will fit my space? Thanks!

If it's a true 300w LED fixture that's a crap ton of light for the space, my one smaller pc case has similar footprint dimensions, just not the height, and im running at around 67w for the entire box, fans, relays, controllers everything.

...Just looked up the specs says its runs at 136w, still probably more than you need cause at around 50w or so of led per sqft you start to reach a point of diminishing returns "supposedly", but it looks decent for the price but doesn't give a whole lot of info.

Making your own light isn't that hard either, just something to consider, also you probably won't be using all the height unless you will be taking up the top with carbon filter and fans and such but even still i expect that you might only use half that height.

Thanks for the reply Mr Sparkle. Right now I am running a "150w" Chinese knock off brand UFO and 2 36w CFLs. The CFLs really heat up the cabinet so my plan is to upgrade my main light source. Are you happy with your results in the PC case?

EDIT: I just checked out your grow on this forum. Looks really nice!

Hey, I'd say that cooling a 136w commercial led panel might come as problem in such a small space. I have a marshydro 300w, about equivalent with the viparspectra your are talking about (5w leds) and I can tell you that it produces considerable amounts of heat under the bulbs. Because you have quite a lot of height, it might be manageable but I'd expect it to still require some good cooling/venting of the box that will have a hard time fitting in such a small footprint.

I think that you should take a look at the DIY led section of the forums and see there what you can build yourself. I'd say that about 50w to 100w of good cobs will be plenty for your space. Also it will probably be cheaper, if that's a concern, which will allow you to invest in proper cooling, carbon filter and venting apparatuses.

Thanks for the heads up JDoe. Heat has been a issue in my cab so far. It seems that CFLs give off more heat than I was expecting. I was hoping that one large LED would give off less heat. I will be making some adjustments to the ventilation

I got mars hydro 300 watter they do get warm. Even with air flow and carbon filter and a fan I stay at 75 to 80 degrees but I got a 600 watt hid in my 5x5. Definitely go cob or cree they run a bit cooler and par and spectrum is better than vipar or mars. Roledero has some nice lights on ebay.

Funny you mention the Roledero COBs. I found a few of them on Amazon and they will fit comfortably in the cabinet. I think the 200w will be a perfect fit. Would 400w be overkill in such a small cabinet?

Hey Bud,
I have the Vipraspectra 300w in my 18"x18"x48" micro grow.
My Vipraspectra 300w did not produce much heat in my tent. did not need a fan and filter until the odor got strong.
my temps without 6in fan & filter were 68F-78F, then once I added the fan & filter 60F- 66F.

Everyone always tells me 100-200 watts is good for a 2'×2' cab, but I don't see why you couldn't experiment lol. If at all possible maybe find something that has dimming capabilities. The diy cob route could be a good option as well.
