New Grower Help me harvest my last one.

I like more of an up. They look mostly cloudy to me. I see a few amber, and that's when I start thinking about chopping. Cloudy is when the THC is at its most potent and the plant is ripe. People like to wait for it to amber, and that's fine, but I am not interested in the couch lock, and as I understand it, really the ambering is the THC degrading. I like perfectly ripe bananas, not soft brown ones. :)

I hear the buds will put on some more weight if you wait longer, but I'm more concerned with getting what I want than I am with weights.

I have not. I was trying to hold off. Maybe I'll try her tomorrow. Is that how you harvest?
Yes I do. I try to find a small bud that looks like the bulk of the plant and either take it or a snip and do a quick dry. EOF has a great thread on curing, or do a search for quick drying or sampling. You can get a very vague idea of the taste, a much better idea of the high.
I'm kind of like greenjeans, I prefer an earlier "up" smoke, and for my rubs and such I look for peak ripeness for maximum thc. Trichs going milky is the sign peak potency, amber is past peak.
That's the cool part of growing, Brother, tailoring your bud to fit your needs. Some do prefer a sea of amber. :peace:

I agree with those two above me. I get couched locked enough without the amber. I also like to take them
when I feel they still have plenty of life energy in them. I think there may be something magical about that
process of taking them at their physical peak rather than on the down side of the cycle. It just makes sense to me.

It really can be compared to any other fruit or flower, IMO. Would you pick the rose that is starting to wilt, or would you pick the one that is in its prime? Do you eat the apples that are on the ground, or do you pick them from the tree? You want healthy fresh fruit.

Makes perfect sense to me as well.
