New Grower Help needed??? Ask me here directly

All seeds can Herm, if abused/not looked after. They are all created with male and female chronosomes(even femmed seeds still have ability to change sex under stress. abuse etc. I`m not doubting the TLC you gave em, but...it can happen(some people win the lottery, most don`t)! Fem seeds will usually work fine, but, sometimes dissapointment occurs. We`re a clever race, but sometimes nature kicks us in the nuts! Still it does appear that you`re a bit unlucky with your beans Rixxy. I hope you have better luck with your next set! :peace:

Hi Stitch,

First, I read a lot of your posts and comments on this forum and seriously thank you for everything! You help me very much!

It will be my first grow ever (outdoor) and I bought few days ago 2 of your seeds (Chaze (SuperAuto)) and 1 Auto Lavender from CBD seeds.

Now, I will describe you what I want to do this summer and the only thing I want it's to have some of your advices or suggestions.

-I have three 27L containers and, after germination, I will put my seeds directly in this containers.
-I will put the 3 containers in front of 2 windows for about 2 weeks and a half. After, when my plants will be stronger, I will put them outside for the rest of the grow.
-My soil mix will be: 30% Black Top Soil, 30% Peat Moss, 20% compost, 20% perlite.
-My fertilizers will be: Dry blood, Bats Guano (grow), Bats Guano (flowering) and Ashes.
-I will have a little river near my place to water my plants.
-I will start my plants in front of 2 windows in a little cottage with no electricity around the 5 or 6 May. The outside temperature will be around 10°C during the day. Do you think my plants will suffer during the night?

Do you think that it will be good for my plants? If not, what can I do better?

What do you think about the Auto Lavender from CBD seeds? Any Suggestions?

Thanks a lot!

Dr. Grinspoon

P.S.: Sorry for my english, I come from Quebec and I usually speak French!

I know I'm new and it's not my thread but what's the pH of your soil mix going to be like? I'm a coco grower so maybe I should shut up but make sure your pH is in an acceptable range and the most important things RE: temperature are
1) water that's too cold can shock the roots
2) don't leave your pots on freezing cold concrete or something as this may also cause problems

With many coloured leaf strains low temperatures are actually necessary for the colours to appear, it's hard to say where "too cold" starts, cannabis plants are very robust, particualrly when started indoors and "hardened up" before planting out.

I already read on this forum an answer from Stitch and he said that regulated pH was not necessary in outdoor grow... May be he will explain a little bit more!

-I will let my water warm up before watering (few days)
-I don't think that the temperature will go under 0 in the cottage... Maybe 4-5°C and the temperature will increase with the weeks. Do you think that this temperature can have an influence on my plants?
-When my plants will be outside (around the 24th May) I don't think that it will have freeze outside!

Thanks a lot for your comment!

I reckon your temps should be higher than that( they should survive indoors, if they germinate!) Dr G. I try too keep my temps around 10 celcius(should be higher during the day!) The cooler the temps, the slower the growth! Also, if you`re growing in containers, then I would still keep an eye on your ph, it`s still important (also, what ph is your river water?).:2cents: All the best mate, enjoy the ups and downs...and have fun!:toke: :peace:

Thanks a lot!

My goal is not to have the biggest plants... I only want to have beautiful and healty plants... I don't really care if they are small! If you tell me that my plants will survive, it's perfect!

I don't know the pH of the river... I will look at it!

Thanks a lot for your answer!

I think Krug has it exactly right on the pH :-)
If you're planting them outside then you can't very easily control the pH if you're putting pots outside then you can. :-)
The river is a good thing to measure if the plants are going to be in the soil or if you're watering the pots with water from the river.

Someone told me that their flowering plants were down to 15 F (-10 C) temperatures during the night which I thought was ridiculously cold but which an adult plant from an outdoor suited strain can apparently cope with extraordinarily well.

Personally I'm in the middle between Krug and that guy, I'd not want them to go under 0 C

I'd also say that watch out if your plants' pots are in direct contact with the soil beneath, your plants' roots will start to grow downwards through the drainage holes and into the soil beneath and may become very firmly attached to the ground over the course of the grow :-P
So even if your plan to just grow in pots it might not stop there for your plant ;)

Wow thanks a lot for all the answers! I made a lot of forums and this one is clearly the best!

I don't think my plants will be under 0°C... Maybe in the begining, the temperature will be low but never under 0.

I will probably check the pH!

I was thinking to put a plastic tray under my pots to avoid this problem!

Thanks again!

Hi Stitch
I would like to know a couple of things if you help please,
I am currently at day 70 with my 2 Chaze girls and all is going really well, I read another thread where you advised cutting all the fan leaves off, when would you suggest to do this?
When would you advise me to start flushing, I am currently using biobizz bloom.
Thanks
J
