Hey Stoners :D

A problem came up today only with my "Candy Kush" girls, they are on day 19, in Biobizz AllMix soil, started feeding them "water + BioGrow 1ml/L" only, under 600w hps.

The problem is that the lowest 2 leafs are curling, twisting and color changing, and on the second node the leaf tips are having this yellow/brown colors.

Is a an early sign of Ca/Mg deficiency? or you think it is another issue?

It is normal for first or second set of leaves to die off so I would just remove them.I wouldn't worry about those few brown tips unless they get worse. You could start giving a little cal/mag at this point and keep your ph in line and you should be fine.

I know that they will get worse. I've had this problem before, And things got worse. PH and Temps are normal.

Regarding Ca/Mg, I'll use Epsom Salt for Mg, and Egg Shells for Ca. Any specific dosage you recommend??

BioBizz All Mix is considered a "hot" mix since it contains high levels of nutrients and is not generally recommended for growing autos. What you are seeing on your plants is likely the result of over fertilization. I would suggest you only give them plain, pH balanced water for the first 3-4 weeks until the nutrients in the soil are depleted. Next grow you may want to switch to their Lite Mix or use a 50/50 mix of All Mix and Lite Mix. I would also suggest that you capture and test the run off, the water that comes out of the bottom of the pot when feeding them. Ideally you want the pH of your feed and that of your run off to be about the same, right around 6.4 - 6.5.

Only the All Mix. Their Lite Mix is more like akin to Pro Mix or Sunshine.

Thanks Muddy for your reply.

I know that AllMix is bit hot for autos. I always start with lightmix for 10 days then switch to Allmix. I did this plan with all of my previous auto grows.
Im getting this issue with only one strain out of 3 strains I am currently growing. It is Auto candy kush.

I checked ph runoff today and it was 6.9. Could it be the problem?

As you thankfully advised, it maybe that this strain could not handle Allmix soil, or it maybe ph.

They have started to shoot pistils 6 day ago, and they are about to finish 3rd week, and they look very healthy. That's why I thought of dificiency instead of over feed.

So what I plan to do is to get down ph a bit and give them water only with no BioGrow feed.

Any second thoughts Mud?

While 6.9 is a bit high, the only thing that is locked out at that level is iron and I don't see any indications of an iron deficiency. Some strains are just more sensitive than others and I suspect that may be the case here. I would leave them in the Lite Mix a bit longer next time, until they have 3-4 nodes. At 10 days they are still seedlings and the All Mix is probably too hot for them at that age.
