Lighting Help with 1212 build

I agree with BigSm0, four would be max that i would go with, and you don't use the blurple

Ok I decided on 4 running 200w 1400ma anyway so that's all good! I've got all the parts but struggling in the heat sinks in uk, best I can find is this http://www.led-heatsink.com/seepricesandbuy.php?cateid=1277

But at £20 each they ain't cheap! Anyone have other suggestions or do I have to swallow that expensive pill?
Sad to say heat sinks are pricey. They are chunks of metal we ship back and forth. I love to see things made in one place travel half way around the world and then wind up right back down the street from where they started.

Make sure the driver you get either can be dimmed or can take an external pot. You will most definitely want to crank those bad boys down in the start of the grow. Seedlings are not going to be too happy about 200 cob watts. Cobwatts. A new term that is pretty damned important.

Order from China if you must, most of the goods are made there anyhow.

Try an Arctic Alpine Plus passive CPU heatsink. They go for 10-11 dollars and have a surface large enough to handle larger chips like the 058-1825

Do these need to be drilled or will the ideal holders work?

AT 50 watts you might be pushing the chip a bit. It's not that this sink won't work. Its more a matter of lowering it's longevity due to the temps it will operate. I run these kinds of sinks and have 40mm fans on the tops of them and with active cooling they do wonderfully. I just think they are worrisome when run passive. IF you want to go passive I would look up a series or two.

But PC sinks DO definitely work. Just make sure that you get everything to fit before you start assembly. And no, your no idiot. I aint sharing my crown with nobody!

Would something like this work?

Plan would be get one 2 foot long and then split it into 4 sections and mount a cob in the middle of each section, I'm guessing it's too thin, but if I could get a solid block it be great, mount cobs to it and just hang the whole block
