A 50W cob or 048-1212 at 50% efficiency will disperse 50% heat and 50% light+heat. Running on a HLG-150H-48A all the up, at about 60W, the heatsink does get pretty hot, except with a fan near. 50W gets pretty warm with no air movement but the heatsink can definitely handle a 1212 at 50W.
I started out with cobs building active cooled systems but Im finding I can acheive better results running passive cobs softer. Im considering 36W or 25W with this heatsink for the next build.
I went with a large one off eBay and two pc fans and a cheap 12v led driver from Amazon to power it, I'd buy a slightly smaller heatsink next time since I'm going active anyway to lower costs a touch, but I much prefer one large heatsink cause then u don't need to mess about building a frame and mounting everything to it, anyway all in I think this build has probably cost me £180, twice the price of a 600w hps, not much more than blurples and a lot less than a ready made kit, for something low power, low noise and low heat and probably more growing power
