Hey everyone, as we all know times are "interesting". And with money tight and no end in sight quite yet, I am finally seriously considering reusing my Fox Farm Coco Loco. If you're familiar with this media, then you're aware that it's not really coco, and it's not really soil. Though to me, it is a soil that is using coco instead of peat, but hey, that's how it's typically described so im keeping it simple. For once. Hahaha. Anyway, looking for help reamending it, sterilizing it, etc. Basically I'm fairly ignorant in how to reuse other than I know it should be reamended. But to what extent? Do I just assume most of the nutrients have been depleted? As I'm sure they have for the most part. Thanks in advance to any and all help with this. Be safe and take care of yourself and those around you.

How much is worth 3 gals of Coco loco ? I've looked into reusing my coco coir and just cleaning it of old roots and getting it out of the grow bag was enough to make me put it the compost...Around here,3 gals of coco coir is worth about 3$...

Man when money’s tight $3 is food.

I agree.. Just started a grow and using what I have left laying around without spending any money in these uncertain times.. which was a bag of the coco loco from last purchase that I had planned on putting in veg garden in a month or so. I also had bought a small bag of Recharge that was never used so I am using that this grow in hopes that if needed I can reuse the loco and keep adding the recharge on next grow. If needed to reuse My plan was before planting anything in them next time was to run a known ppm water thru the pots and measure before and runoff to see the difference and go from there on what was needed for neuts going forward.. and hoping that I dont need to reuse. I am a long ways time wise and experience from knowing for sure if it will work or not.
Good Luck.
Be Safe!

Coco coir is known to have cation exchange sites that rob the calmag from the plants available nutrients.
you can rebuffer used coco by soaking it 2 times for 8 hours In a solution of around 7.5 ml cal/mg per gallon of water or at the least supplement when you water your plants in the re used substrate
